BET365 launch their new site ? top software to go with their top customer service

?We have everything in common with America nowadays, except, of course, language.? This was the view of Oscar Wilde. The great Irish playwright must be forgiven for being wrong ? there is a chasm between the gambling requirements of the North American market and those on this side of the pond.
When BET365 decided to start an internet sports book, the first step was to look at the software on the market. Not good enough, so we wrote our own. We felt that the experience of running 58 betting shops and a telephone business in the UK since 1974 would allow us to design the most customer-friendly software out there. When completed, we were pleased with it and so were our UK customers. All the feedback over here was positive, positive, positive ? in the press, on the forums and in comments to customer service. This was also true for our customers from most of the other 100 or so countries who log on to BET365
But in America, different story. We knew there were differences in America ?the need to display 5/4 (or 2.25) as +125 for example. We did plenty of research and in October 2001 launched bet365usa. The customers loved some of our innovative ideas, such as flexi-teasers, and the value, paying the true odds for parlays, and, above all, the security of playing with a regulated book with the solid backing of those 58 legal betting shops in the UK.
They also love our 15% initial sign up bonus, our fast and secure payouts, our 24/7 customer services team and call center operators offering the best service around. The chance to win great prizes ? all customers are being entered in a draw to win a trip of a lifetime to the Superbowl.
But many of them didn?t like the software. In all my 25 years of taking bets in shops, on course and on the ?phone in the UK, I have never been asked for ?Horse X to win ?200?. The UK customer will always give his selection and stake. For example, ??50 Horse X at 4/1? or ??200 to ?50 Horse X?. This UK gambler will always think in terms of his stake.
But in America, it ain?t necessarily so. You will ring up and say ?give me the Bears for a dime? and what you mean is ?give me $1200 on the Bears at ?120?. And you expect to be able to do this on the web. If the odds are 8/5 (+160), you don?t want to have to get out your calculator to work out that you need to wager $625 to win that dime. You expect the software to do it for you. Bet365?s new software release does this now.
It?s also fixed the other main bone of contention. You can now view the main lines on a game ? point spread, total, money line ? on the same coupon. Previously we had you clicking all over the place to view these lines.
We?ve sorted out some technical issues, which means the new site is even faster. You can buy or sell up to 7 points in football. Loading all that information on every team on to the screen took some time. On the new site, you pick your selections and then you are given the option to buy or sell the points on the betslip. Less information to load, which means a much faster site. .
BET365 intends to launch the new system and website in several releases to ensure that customers are given the smoothest possible transition. All account information will seamlessly be transferred to the new system and customers will not be required to re-register. For the first few weeks customers wishing to place wagers on international sports will be taken to bet365?s international site to place such wagers where their existing username and password will apply
Fixed parlay cards and teaser cards will be added a few weeks after intial launch to further increase customer choice. As for propositions, well..
You may recall the advice given to ?Sky? Masterson by his Dad in Damon Runyon?s Guys and Dolls. ? ?Son,? the old guy says, ?no matter how far you travel, or how smart you get, always remember this: Some day, somewhere,? he says, ?a guy is going to come to you and show you a nice brand-new deck of cards on which the seal is never broken, and the guy is going to offer to bet you that the jack of spades will jump out of this deck and squirt cider in your ear. But, son? the old guy says, ?do not bet him, for as sure as you do you are going to get an earful of cider.??
Now the imagination department at BET365 have worked overtime to come up with a long list of propositions, none of which involve getting cider in your ear. For football you can bet on the team to score first and team to score last; the time of the first score and the first scoring play; shortest touchdown scored and longest touchdown scored; team to score longest touchdown and team to make longest field goal; the highest scoring quarter and the double result (half-time/full-time). Will there be a score in the final 2 mins of the 1st half, or in the last 3 mins of the 2nd half? Who will score first in 2nd half and will either team score 3 unanswered times?
For the hoops, we have team to score first and team with highest scorer; most individual points, most individual rebounds and most individual assists; highest scoring quarter and highest scoring half; player match-ups and player performances.
This is just a selection ? there are plenty more for football and basketball, and also for ice hockey and baseball. Mythical matches ? you?ll be able to bet the Rams against the Steelers every week!
