NBA:
SATURDAY:
NUGGETS (46-31)
7:35 PM ESPN
ROCKETS (47-31)
You think teams don?t care about the end of the regular season? Think again! The Nuggets are currently a #7 seed and half game behind the Rockets. They are staring at a first round matchup with the feared Spurs and moving up into the #6 seed that the Rockets occupy would get them a date with the Sonics (No offense Seattle fans.) instead!
CAVALIERS (40-37)
1:05 PM ABC
PISTONS (50-27)
This is another match-up that should be interesting as these two are projected to meet in the first round of the NBA playoffs as the #2 and #7 seeds and both would like to send a message here. The defending world champion Pistons look strong again this year, but if anyone can shock them it would be LeBron James (26.9ppg, 7.1reb, 7.2ast) and the new look Cavaliers.
MAVERICKS (53-24)
3:35 PM ABC
LAKERS (34-44)
I?m sure this one looked like a great game before the season began. Here we are in reality though, and it?s been a long, long year for Kobe Bryant (27.4ppg) and the Lakers. Meanwhile the ?Mavs? need to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned in the playoffs, not just the high scoring regular season novelty act.
MLB:
D?BACKS (6-3)
NATIONALS (5-4)
Two teams off to surprising starts meet up as the D?Backs visit the new Washington Nations. The D?Backs have quietly put together a nice starting rotation in Brandon Webb (2-0, 2.70), Shawn Estes (1-0, 3.46), Russ Ortiz (1-0, 3.27) and the young Brad Halsey (1-0, 1.80) and will be much improved from last season. The Nationals are riding high on the big bat of Jose Guillen (5HR, 8RBI, .359AVG).
BRAVES (5-4)
PHILLIES (4-5)
The Braves are the favorites to win their division again and with good reason. Along with stars Andruw Jones and Chipper Jones, they also have the strongest starting rotation in their division with Tim Hudson, Mike Hampton, John Smoltz and John Thomson. The Phillies are one of the contenders to knock off the Braves and in addition to the thunderous Jim Thome, the Phillies have also done well to pick up Jon Lieber as the anchor of their staff.

HOT PROPS:
Who will succeed John Paul II as the next Pope? It?s hard to bet against the Italians as they held the papacy for 455 years before John Paul II, but Latin America has the largest Catholic population on the planet and that leads me to think one of the three we have listed or perhaps the ?Field? might be a wise bet. Francis Arinze of Nigeria is an interesting option as well, and now word has leaked out that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany may already have 40-50 votes locked up. Who do you think will be the next pope? Wanna bet?
