Weekly Review Nov. 21
We experienced a good week here at BetCRIS this week, but not without a few worries. College football was terrific and its good to get some good results in considering the season is concluding fast. With big favorites like BYU and Miami Florida losing straight up, and some good results in the NFL to 'bust' up some teasers, overall we walked away from the week happy.
A quick overview of NFL saw money lines, point spreads and Teasers going to the house, while NFL Totals and parlay being in favor of the public. 1st and 2nd halves were a wash with nothing much to report either way.
College football was great for us, with a profit recorded in all options except College Totals which the public were smarter than us.
Best games for the public...
Clemson attracted all of the publics money from the time we opened them a 1 point favorite until they closed at a 4 point favorite over South Carolina. We had some late money on South Carolina at +4 and even at +4.5 so a Clemson by 4 points result was not good at all for us with just about every bet being a winner on the game.
Auburn were well supported against Alabama and drove the line from 6.5 to close 7 and didn't disappoint winning 28-18.
It was all one way betting in the Army vs. Arkansas State game with Army being a 6 point favorite. We kept taking bets and moving our line trying to get some action on Arkansas, but we couldn't attract much at all, even by closing the line 4 points higher at 10! Arkansas hardly gave us any hope at all and lost 38-10.
Dallas defeating the hapless Detroit Lions was a huge public teaser and parlay play. We actually won money to the game with straight bets, but only because we knew how much the public 'hooked up' Dallas in all their plays. We had hoped for a miracle that Detroit could win, and if they did we would have won just about every single parlay or teaser, but unfortunately Detroit were no match for them and the public had a winner.
Jacksonville opened a 4.5 point favorite over Tennessee but closed only a 3 point (-120) favorite. The game proved to be a shootout, and when Jacksonville won 31-28 it wasn't a great result because the Jacksonville money we took was at -3, and all the Tennessee money was at +4.5, +4 and +3.5!
Denver was a popular pick with the public also and who can blame them when they were playing the NY Jets?? Denver opened a huge 12.5 point favorite and closed higher at 14. The Jets never had a chance and lost 27-0 and all betters were all happy at the bookmakers expense.
Best games for the house...
Miami Florida getting 'shocked' by Georgia Tech is about as good as it gets for bookmakers. Miami Florida opened a huge 17 point favorite and closed even higher at 19. Georgia Tech won in a tight game 14-10 and Im sure there are a few 'Red' faces in the Miami Florida camp this week.
Washington State vs. Washington U was a great betting game with a great spread of State being a 2.5 point favorite. The fact of so much money was bet on this game, it made it great for us.
Utah overcoming BYU in overtime was great, especially with people taking around -425 on BYU to win straight up on the money line. BYU closed a 10 point favorite, but couldn't get there in overtime and lost 41-34.
While we lost on straight bets on the St Louis vs. Arizona game, it was a terrific result for us with Teaser bettors. St Louis closed a 8 point favorite, but lost outright 38-28
With no Donovan McNabb, we opened the NY Giants high at a 7 point favorite against Philadelphia. In our opinion we never thought he would play, so we kept our line high, and when he was officially ruled 'out' we wanted the Giants to win and they did 27-17, covering the 7 point spread.
Tampa Bay edging out Atlanta by 3 points upset many a bettor especially the parlay and teaser bettors as Atlanta was a 6 point favorite and many bettors either teased Atlanta to win, or included Atlanta to win in parlays on the money line. We watched Atlanta try and tie up the game with the final play and we were happy when we saw the kick head wide.
One of our big players I have to mention which had a nice week had several $30,000 bets on College Saturday and won $59000. He then started Sunday by having Chicago +3 points against Carolina to win $100,000 and Tennessee +3 (+110) against Jacksonville betting $100,000 in the early Sunday games. He was unlucky to only 'push' the Tennessee game, but won easily with Chicago. Unfortunately for him, we was a Jets fan and lost $50,000 back in the afternoon betting his favorite team. All in all though he enjoyed winning over $100,000 for the weekend so he should atleast be happy!
Until next week, Good Luck
