Christmas is the time for giving, and here at BetCRIS.com , giving is exactly what we did! The whole week was a grind with some difficult results to overcome. The College football Bowl games were great for the favorite bettors with all 6 favorites winning and three covering the spread and one landing on the number. Those numbers are hard for a bookmaker to recover from, let alone Sundays Christmas day NFL disaster games! NBA was good for us however college basketball turned around this week and the public had a win finally.
College Bowl Games... Our best result by far in College Football this week was Nevada winning by 1 point in overtime over Central Florida, 49-48. Central Florida actually opened up a 1 point favorite, but heavy action closed the line with Nevada being a 4 point favorite, luckily for us most of the Nevada money was at more than the 1 point.
The public's best Bowl win at our expense was California beating out BYU 35-28. California by 7 points was the worst result for us as we opened Cal a 6.5 point favorite and closed them higher at 8 points, so we had lots of people buying down to 7 points either way, so a 7 result wasn't good for us.
Buffalo at Cincinnati- Probably our best result by far this week. Cincinnati was a huge 13.5 point favorite but a late rally by Buffalo ensured their upset victory 37-27. We did however had to pay a nice bet of Buffalo to win at 10/risking $5000 to win $50,000. Result- Buffalo 37-27
Pittsburgh at Cleveland- Cleveland were shut out in this one sided game and we were very thankful to come out more or less square on this game. Pittsburgh was a 6.5 point favorite and with Cleveland playing ok recently it was enough for us to get enough people betting Cleveland to ease the pain of this big result. Result- Pittsburgh 41-0
San Diego at Kansas City- Heavy rain dampened the early 'over' bettors in this game and it resulted in the game total spiraling down. Kansas City kept their slim wild card hopes alive while destroying San Diego's hope in a 20-7 victory. The game was good for us with both teams attracting a lot of action. The best part for us was the game total staying below the 45-50 points. Result- Kansas City 20-7
Tennessee at Miami- Another game where the because the game total stayed low, it saved us from a bad result. Miami won 24-10 and considering Miami was a 4.5-5.5 point favorite it could have been really bad for us, but the game total was between 43 and 44 points, so a favorite and under was ok by us. Tennessee did also attract some good money, so in general the result was ok by us. Result- Miami 24-10
Jacksonville at Houston- Houston definitely look like they are trying, but the upset San Francisco win has now put them solely in front for the 'Reggie Bush' NFL number one draft pick race. Considering the result of a 6 point favorite winning and the game total going over, we were very lucky to come away not losing a fortune, but for us breaking even was fine. Result- Jacksonville 38-24
Detroit at New Orleans- New Orleans surely cant wait for the end of the season to come around. After Hurricane Katrina, Injuries and now losing to Detroit at home, it just doesn't get much worse for a NFL team. Detroit even had some good betting support, and we had the result we need aswell with New Orleans up by 2, but then a last minute field goal by Detroit sealed our fate. Result- Detroit 13-12
Dallas at Carolina- A good game for us with Carolina well supported as a 5.5 point favorite. They even looked to be the winner until Steve Smith got ejected from the game, which led to a Dallas comeback victory. Result- Dallas 24-20
NY Giants at Washington- Washington continued their recent good form, and the public continue to bet them. Teaser bettors especially 'hooked' Washington up in teasers, so while the game was a break even for us, we had many 'winning teasers going into the late games and Sunday games. Result- Washington 35-20
Atlanta at Tampa Bay- This game was definitely a result for the public. With Tampa Bay opening a 3 point favorite and closing a 4 point favorite, you would think it would be ok, but many customers either bought points down to the key 3 and all the teaser bets win. Result- Tampa Bay 27-24
San Francisco at St Louis- There is still life in San Francisco! A come from behind victory was well received and next to Buffalo this game was the best of the week for us. St Louis was a 9 - 10 point favorite and teaser bettors liked to hook up St Louis at home. Result- San Francisco 24-20
Philadelphia at Arizona- Arizona was not a good result for us at all. From the minute we opened Arizona a 1 point favorite until we closed them a 3 point favorite, they were well supported by the betting public. Philly did make a game of it, but not enough for the victory. Result- Arizona 27-21
Indianapolis at Seattle- With Indy having secured home field in the playoffs, resting players was always going to happen. We opened Seattle a big 7.5 point favorite and immediately took money on them. The news of Tony Dungy's son's death only enhanced the Seattle bettors and it was a game we would rather forget as the Indy bettors were few and far between. Result- Seattle 28-13
Oakland at Denver- Another good game for the public with Denver covering the spread in easy fashion. Denver opened a big 12.5 point favorite and closed higher at 13.5 points. Oakland just cant seem to get it together and with Lamont Jordan not playing they were even worse. A result well received by bettors. Result Denver 22-3
Chicago at Green Bay- The worst result by far I have seen at Betcris for a long, long time. Chicago opened a 3.5 point favorite and received huge money to close up at 7 points. All the Green Bay money we could get was at either +7 or even +7.5 points. We already new that nearly every single Teaser was placed on Chicago aswell, so we really needed a result which was NOT Chicago wining by 7 points, alas we got the worst result. It was nice Christmas present for everyone who bet this game. Result- Chicago 24-17
Minnesota at Baltimore- Not quite as bad a result for us as the Chicago game, but it was very close! To compliment the early Chicago xmas present was the favorite Baltimore covering the spread and the game total going over the 34-35.5 points. We opened Minnesota actually the favorite by 1 point early in the week, but because of Baltimore's great play last week, the public bet them all the way to a 3 point favorite! Minnesota always looked in the game, but just couldn't finish at the end. Result- Baltimore 30-23
Well I hope everyone enjoyed a great Christmas, and I hope you have a happy new year. It was definitely a great week for just about all our customers this week, and I'm sure there were lots of drinks flowing on Sunday night. Good luck to all.
Until next week..
