Its goodbye to the 2006 Winter Olympics and we will be sad that they have finished here at BetCRIS.com . It was a terrific event for us with surprisingly great action and following from our customers. The best and biggest event by far was the Men?s Ice Hockey, and the biggest disappointment from the bettor?s point of view was Canada and the United States teams. Combined both countries could only win four matches between them which was not expected at all considering Canada was a even money favorite to win the Gold medal before the tournament began.

Sweden eventually outplayed Finland for the Gold medal and Czech Republic beat out Russia to claim the Bronze. The Final match betting was huge with well over $250,000 being wagered on it. We opened Sweden at pk-115, and eventually closed off betting with Finland being the slight pk -115 favorite. From our point of view we could not be happier with the action the Winter Olympics generated and it just gave us a glimpse of what the World Cup Soccer could be like starting in June this year. We can?t wait!

Another great event which concluded on Sunday was the WGC Accenture match play Championship. A great format for bettor?s with straight up golfers going head to head in a knock out format. Australian Geoff Ogilvy upstaged the field and went on to beat Davis Love III in the final at +115 odds and lots of support from our customers. Betting on the match-ups all week was spectacular with our best result being when Chad Campbell dethroned Tiger Woods in the third round. The first round however had ?every man and his dog? betting on Tiger Woods to beat Stephen Ames at huge odds of -320 to closing odds of -400! I think a lot of Tigers motivation was provided by comments Ames made about Tigers accuracy before the match, and all of our customers thought Tiger wouldn?t be very happy about it. Tiger proceeded to roll off 9 straight perfect match play holes to claim the victory.

NBA got back into action this week after the All Star game. Many favorites won this week and needless to say, the customers that we have which bet money lines did very well. College basketball was a mixed bag for us this week with a couple of our bigger customers hitting some huge parlays early in the week. Two customers alone won well over $300,000 in the first two days of the week so that is always hard to overcome.

Arena football continues on its winning ways for our customers, with not enough action to counter the sharp players we have who bet it. With not enough action, it makes it hard to balance our action, so some line movements in Arena Football can be very severe. If we can break even in a sport like Arena Football and keep our customers happy by providing the sport to bet on, then we would be more than happy. I hope everybody enjoyed a few winners this week.

Until next week,

Shane Catford
