I am sure it just wasn't Betcris.com that enjoyed a great week this week; in fact I would assume all bookmakers had terrific numbers with lots of terrific results on the weekend. NFL Sunday finished the week in fine fashion for bookmakers with some extraordinary results which could be attributed to some ?big' injuries.

Houston defeated Jacksonville with a less than 100% quarterback in Byron Leftwich and two other star Quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh) and Matt Hasselbeck (Seattle) had to leave the game early which resulted in their teams losing. It just goes to show that you can never know what will happen in Football sometimes and the unexpected can happen like it did this week. Our customers, who have been on a terrific run betting Teaser's so far this year, finally came back to earth with a ?thud' after the three mentioned unexpected results. College Football was also another good week for bookmakers with some of the big line moves failing to get the money.

Those of you that have been betting golf would have seen the extraordinarily low price for Niclas Fasth to win the Mallorca Classic on the European Tour. I had the low quote of 3/1 for Fasth to win, and I wish I could say that I was a genius to have him so low in the betting, but the truth is he should have been 30/1!

Baseball is now locked at 1 win a piece for St Louis and Detroit but the action has been great. We have a couple of people who stand to collect a lot of money on Detroit if they win with some big 70/1 bets on them before the season started.

Best games for the house...
The best College football game for us this week was the overtime victory by Texas A&M over Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State had a lot of betting support, so much so that we originally opened Texas A&M a 1 point favorite, but closed Oklahoma State being a 2 ? point favorite. Texas A&M prevailed in the overtime 34-33.

Minnesota with the help from an injury to Matt Hasselbeck defeated Seattle 31-13. Seattle was a favorite among teaser bettors opening at a 7 point favorite and even closing lower at 6.5 points. Houston was also a great game to ?breakup' teaser bets, but we did receive lots of money on Houston on Straight wagers. We wouldn't change the result though as we just have so many people betting teaser bets now.

Tampa Bay pulled off another dramatic win to defeat Philadelphia 23-21. The weather was extremely hot in Tampa Bay which could have attributed to a few turnovers made by Donovan McNabb. Philadelphia was another team which was involved in many teaser bets as they were between a 5 ? and 6 point favorite.

Best games for the public...

From the moment we opened UAB a 7 ? point favorite against Marshall, we received bets on Marshall to win or at the ?plus' points. We closed UAB down 1 ? points at kick off being a 6 point favorite. Marshall prevailed 31-24. Sunday's best NFL result was New England defeating Buffalo 28-6. New England always seems to attract money, and this year Buffalo has been hard to ?sell' so unless there was going to be an upset, a New England result was always going to be in the public's favor.

Until next week,

Shane, Betcris
