The Conference semifinals get started tonight with the Montreal Canadiens hosting the Philadelphia Flyers. The Canadiens, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, are -225 moneyline favorites to win the series, while the Flyers are +175 underdogs.
Montreal dominated the season series, winning all four meetings. The Canadiens beat No. 8 seed Boston Bruins four games to three in the first round. Philadelphia defeated No. 3 seed Washington Capitals, also 4-3.
In the second matchup Thursday, the Colorado Avalanche open their Western Conference semifinal series against the No. 1 Detroit Red Wings. Detroit is a -250 favorite while Colorado is a +200 underdog.
Detroit swept the season series 4-0. In the Conference quarterfinals, the Red Wings beat No. 8 seed Nashville Predators 4-2, while Colorado got past the No. 3 Minnesota Wild 4-2.
On Friday, the New York Rangers visit Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins for Game 1 of their Eastern Conference series. The Penguins are -155 favorites and the Rangers are +135 underdogs.
New York won the season series 5-3, with two wins coming in overtime. Pittsburgh swept No. 7 Ottawa Senators 4-0 in the first round, while New York beat No. 4 New Jersey Devils 4-1.
The final matchup pits the Dallas Stars against the San Jose Sharks. San Jose is a -170 favorite and Dallas is +150 underdog. Dallas won the season series 4-2-2. In the first round, San Jose beat No. 7 Calgary Flames 4-3 and Dallas defeated No. 4 Anaheim Ducks 4-2.
