DAYTONA 500

Sunday, 3:30 pm ET, FOX

With an $18 Million purse at stake the good ol' boys of NASCAR will have plenty to get excited about this Sunday in the grand daddy of all stock car races, the Daytona 500. Defending champ Kevin Harvick will start way back at #16, but anything can happen when you put 43 cars going 200 MPH on an oval track.

You still can't count out the likes of Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart or Kasey Kahne. And it also appears that Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s new #88 ride is going to be fine thank you very much, and he finds himself starting on Row 2. The pole sitter is Jimmie Johnson and he's joined on the first row by Michael Waltrip.

SLAM DUNK COMPETITION

Rudy Gay vs. Gerald Green vs. Dwight Howard vs. Jamario Moon
Saturday, 8 pm ET, TNT

Defending champion Gerald Green could be in tough this year as both Rudy Gay and Dwight Howard have been hyping themselves up for the title once held by Michael Jordan, Spud Webb, Isiah Rider and Kenny Walker. The Slam Dunk competition has some history to it, both good and bad, but with athletes like Gay, Green and Howard in this competition anything is possible.

Gay went as far as to ask fans to submit their ideas for him to YouTube in hopes of finding inspiration for that winning dunk. Whether or not he uses any of the streetball ideas that are being submitted remains to be seen, but at least now he's given every basketball fan a reason to watch Saturday night.

57th ANNUAL NBA ALL-STAR GAME

Eastern Conference @ Western Conference
Sunday 8 pm ET, TNT

Sure, there's no defense to speak of when the NBA's biggest stars take to the court Sunday night in the annual NBA All-Star Game, but with the league's top athletes all on the court at the same time there's always the chance that something really special could happen.

This year the Eastern Conference is lead by former #1 picks LeBron James and Dwight Howard as they look to avenge last year's 153-132 drubbing in Las Vegas. They'll also have some impressive back-up including Dwayne Wade, Paul Pierce and Jason Kidd.

On the other side of the court two Denver Nuggets teammates will be leading the Western Conference as Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony will both be in the starting line-up. They'll have Tim Duncan, Steve Nash and hometown heroes Chris Paul and David West helping them out.
