Momentum can be a scary thing in the NFL. Just as easily as a team can turn a couple of victories in to an extended winning streak, they can also have a tough time getting back on track after dropping a couple of games in a row. For the Chicago Bears, one win has turned in to four heading in to their clash against the San Diego Chargers this weekend, a battle between teams heading in the opposite directions as Phillip Rivers and company have now lost four straight sports betting contests.

NFL Betting Lines: Chicago Bears ? 3.5
A tough loss to the New York Jets in a game they probably should have had was followed by an overtime defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, and then at the hands of the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers, and most recently on short rest against the Oakland Raiders. Things won?t get any easier for the Chargers this week against a fierce Bears? defense, and if they can?t protect the football they will once again be in trouble.

That task begins with Rivers, who has thrown 15 interceptions compared to just 13 touchdowns in what has been a disappointing season so far. The Pro Bowl quarterback is asked to do a lot for the San Diego offense, and while they rank fourth in passing yards the turnovers have really hurt them so far. While the Chargers? defense has been decent against the pass, they have really struggled to contain the run and simply have to be better in that area. If they don?t turn the ball over San Diego will have a really good shot at winning, but that is a major online wagering question mark.

Chargers Bears Betting Preview: Chicago Bears
It?s hard to fault the Bears for the games they lost considering that two of them were on the road against legitimate NFC contenders and the other was at home against the undefeated Packers, and they are now proving that they can compete. Chicago beat the Detroit Lions in terms of both the score and the overall morale in an absolute thrashing this past week, and have averaged 29 points over a four-game winning streak. While the Bears? offense has been firing on all cylinders, the defense has allowed 18 points or less in three of those wins, and is finally beginning to look like a championship caliber unit.

It is so easy for teams to spiral in to extended losing streaks, and for the Chargers, it will be hard for them to get out of their current skid. While the team has talked about injuries and inconsistencies, those excuses won?t help them get back in the win column, particularly while having to travel across the country to play one of the hottest teams in the NFL.
