The 2012 season looks to be one of the more interesting seasons in a long time. Top teams like the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals are not giving clear indications as to how they will perform. The New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies look to be paving the way to a 2012 World Series showdown, but it is almost impossible to tell what will happen with the Phillies? offense this season.
MLB betting enthusiasts have been following the spring training games closely to try and get a feel for which team may be the one that will emerge as the 2012 World Series champion. Let?s take a look at the top teams from each league and see which ones would be the best bet for 2012 World Series futures.
New York Yankees (Odds on Winning: 7 to 1)
The Yankees look to be an interesting contrast of excellent pitching and suspect fielding this season. The New York infield is getting old and the farm system has not been getting much of a look as of late. The Yankees may come out of the gate winning, but as the season wears on the Yankees may start to break down.
If you make your World Series futures bets on the Yankees, then you may look like a genius in May and June. But when the end of July rolls around, it could be a big mistake. The Yankees? pitching will keep the team in the hunt all season long, but if the hitting cannot come through then the Yankees will just barely make the playoffs.
Los Angeles Angels (Odds on Winning: 15 to 2)
This the futures bet to make on the 2012 World Series. The Angels have collected some of the best superstars in the game to compete for the big prize. But odds makers are never impressed with a collection of superstars because the superstars often find it hard to work well together.
The moves that the Angels made will improve the team dramatically. C.J. Wilson is a soft-spoken superstar pitcher who is a solid teammate. Albert Pujols could be a problem to team chemistry. But if he works to fit in with the team, then the Angels? offense will be unstoppable. Los Angeles already has a strong bullpen and this team is ready to compete.
Philadelphia Phillies (Odds on Winning: 11 to 2)
MLB bettors have been disappointed by the Phillies for two years in a row now, and both times it was for the same reason. The Philadelphia Phillies just cannot generate consistent offense to go with its incredible pitching staff. With Ryan Howard still nursing an injury and his status unknown for opening day, the Phillies become an even more unknown commodity. In the NL, the Phillies can seem like a lock for a good World Series futures bet, but they will more than likely disappoint again in 2012.
St. Louis Cardinals (Odds on Winning: 25 to1)
The Cardinals lost Albert Pujols and replaced him with Carlos Beltran. Prior to spring training, the Cardinals would have been one of the best World Series futures bets you could make. The team still has a strong starting rotation and it can still produce offense. But the continued problems with starting pitcher Chris Carpenter make the Cardinals a risky futures bet. But still, if you are feeling lucky, then the Cardinals are not a bad bet at all.
