Reno Monday morning; it?s overcast, foggy, temperature in the 40?s and Sarah Palin is in town for a rally, which I am sure will draw a bigger crowd than the Jacksonville Jaguars. :mj07:
I have a choice as I could attend the rally or go to the spa at the Nugget and use the "schvitz" and get a rubdown.
We are in the middle of the college season, and in the first big jump for the pros; and now you must make choices. Do you trust your instincts? Do you trust the numbers that bounce around in your head?
The numbers that are posted from here on out will not move as intensely as the first month and the games will play even closer to the number than you can imagine.
The art will play a big part in determining if you have cash to play by Thanksgiving or maxing out your credit cards to get the wife and kids Christmas gifts. Another choice.
We understand fully that talent in most cases bear out but directing it and planning for it by coaches and upper management might make an extra winner for you, but more importantly, save a loser also.
Look at the next games coming up for the Cowboys and the Chargers. I never have told anybody what to do with their money, but this choice is an important one for the recreational player.
Betting on Norv Turner and Wade Phillips at this time, and booking a loser might mean occupational suicide for the uninformed. Top pros view it as another loss or win but if you?re not truly battle-tested it could put an abrupt end to your season.
Some people who I associate with never look at BCS rankings and after watching post game interviews in which they might find a small nugget of info, they choose to do it this way. Winning money by betting on humans is such a fine line that choice and some caution should be on your everyday menu. Remember, we accept your bets on your "choice," cashing it later will be by chance. You only get one choice per game so make the best of it.
Some interesting side notes. It seems like an easy choice as simply betting against the higher-number teams in the BCS ranking. Do Alabama and Ohio State ring a bell?
Maybe Oklahoma is on the endangered specie list and it is only Monday.
As many of you do when driving to Reno, you must go through Goldfield, Nevada. I have made the trip four times in the past two years and I make the claim that no one either living or dead is in Goldfield. Not even a jackrabbit was seen.
And with the opening of the new bridge over Hoover Dam, we now can make a new joke out of an old one. You would always hear when things were going bad that you were headed towards Hoover Dam.
But even with that you now have a choice ? dam or bridge.
