Bettors Hoping Revenge Is Served

By SPORTSBETTING.COM

Two weeks ago, college football experienced a weekend that featured a number of monumental upsets?dubbed by some as ?Upset Saturday?. That weekend, then No. 5 West Virginia failed to cover as 7-point favorites losing to No. 18 South Florida 21-13. The Washington Huskies and their supporters scored an ATS win against No. 1 USC as the Trojans failed to cover the 19?-point spread in a 27-24 victory. No. 3 Oklahoma came up short of the 23-point Vegas line as they were upset by Colorado 27-24.
Those three were only a few of the favorites who were bitten by underdogs the weekend of Sept. 29.

Bettors who assumed that the previous weekend was an anomaly were probably shocked this past weekend as No. 2 USC, No. 5 Wisconsin and No. 1 LSU were some of the teams who failed to cover, with USC and Wisconsin losing straight up as well.

As the college season reaches its mid-point, the Top 25 bears little resemblance to the preseason rankings, and the way this season has played out so far, you can bet there is still plenty of movement coming.

If you think more Top 10 teams will topple, check out our Dog Bites section below.

Florida State at Wake Forest
?Revenge is mine? stated Paul in Romans 12:19, and this week we can see Bobby Bowden softly uttering those same words as he heads north to Winston-Salem.
The No. 21 Florida State Seminoles were utterly humiliated 30-0 by the Wake Forest Demon Deacons last year in Tallahassee. Wake Forest covered as a 9?-point underdog in that one. This time around it is Bobby Bowden and his Seminoles that will be on the road but SPORTSBETTING.COM is still favoring Florida State, this time by 5?-points. The total is set at 43?.

The early betting action isn?t banking on Wake Forest to pull off another upset this year, as 75% of the action is on the Seminoles.

Rutgers at Syracuse
A casualty of Upset Saturday, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights have been on a free fall ever since. After being ranked as high as No. 10 in the AP and USA Today polls, Rutgers has lost two-in-a-row both SU and ATS?to Maryland and Cincinnati?falling out of the Top 25 altogether.

Nevertheless, Rutgers a big favorite in their matchup against the Syracuse Orange at the Carrier Dome this weekend, listed at -17?. The Scarlet Knights covered as a 16-point favorite when the two met last year.

SPORTSBETTING.COM bettors think that the Knights are primed for a bounce back game as Rutgers is seeing action at an 80% clip.

LSU at Kentucky
Unlike most top-ranked teams, the LSU Tigers have benefited from all the upsets the past two weeks, currently sitting as the No. 1 ranked team on both the AP and Harris polls. But while they?re seemingly cruising along atop the college football world, they are mired in a three-game ATS losing streak, failing to cover against South Carolina, Tulane and Florida.

This week they face Kentucky as a 10-point favorite, with the total set at 54. LSU has gone Under in three of their last four starts.
Despite the ATS losing streak though, LSU is seeing a ton of action, as they are one of the bettor?s favorite teams on the card at SPORTSBETTING.COM so far this week, and they are seeing 90% of the volume bet on this game.

Dog Bites

With the number of high profile upsets the past couple of weeks, here are some underdogs that are getting a fair share of this week?s action.

- The Central Florida Golden Knights are listed +12 in their matchup against the upstart No. 5 South Florida Bulls, but it is the Knights who are seeing a majority of the action at a 60% clip.

- The Auburn Tigers contributed to Upset Saturday when they beat the Florida Gators both ATS and SU with a final score of 20-17. Bettors are hoping that they can cover as underdogs again this week when they face 3-point favorite Arkansas.

- Wisconsin was a victim of an upset last week by Illinois, losing as a 2-point favorite by a final score of 31-26. This week they are listed as a 7-point underdog against Penn State, but bettors like this Wisconsin team, particularly in this matchup, as this dog is a favorite, garnering 90% of the action on the game.

More NCAA Numbers

- Colt Brennan and Hawaii are on the Mainland this week, facing San Jose State as -18.5-point favorites. The Warriors have won and covered the last two season facing San Jose State, and in this year?s matchup, they are seeing 70% of the early betting action.

- Despite being 0-5 against the spread the last five times they have hosted Minnesota, Northwestern, as a 7-point favorite, is a side the betting public really likes this weekend. They are receiving 90% of the action in this tilt heading into the weekend.

- The #4 ranked Eagles from Boston College visit South Bend this weekend as a 14-point favorite. Despite upsetting UCLA last Saturday, the betting public are still not warming up to this Notre Dame team, as hardly a Fighting Irish ticket has been written. Boston College, 3-1 ATS in their last four visits to Notre Dame, is getting 90% of the action in this tilt.
