Last week, saw two anxiously awaited debuts. Rosie O'Donnell joined Barbara Walters on the View and Katie Couric taking over for Dan Rather as anchor of CBS Evening News. By all accounts it was a shaky start Rosie but a pleasant start for Katie Couric. Ratings soared on the evening news in her first week, although many were hoping for some sort of scoop to help her start filling Dan Rather's shoes. For example, many had thought she might get an exclusive interview with President Bush. Instead her breaking story was about Tom Cruise's baby, the type of stories she was hoping to leave behind. Still most reviews found her pleasant to watch and very articulate. Rosie O'Donnell on the other hand got off to a shaky start. Most reviews found her loud, obnoxious and very derogatory towards her co-host Barbara Walters. She also made a major faux pas when she bad mouthed celebrities like Brooke Shields who had been regular guests on the show before and whom the other co-hosts found to be pleasant. Ratings were good, but many feel that she may not be around very long. Consequently BetWWTS has put up odds on whether the two will still be working on their respective shows by December 31, 2007.

The company has Rosie O'Donnell at YES 1 to 4 and No 5 to 2. Katie Couric on the other hand is 1 to 15 to still be working as anchor of CBS Sports and 8 to 1 not to be.

Last week also saw the start of the Toronto Film Festival which is one of the major kickoffs to the Academy Awards watches. The one movie that was sold out long before the movie started was Borat. The actual full title is Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. The comedy features Sacha Baron Cohen as his famous character who comes to America to tell them about Kazakhstan - the greatest country on earth. And in the process he tries to locate and marry Pamela Anderson. The movie has gotten glorious reviews but the Toronto Film Festival had projector problems spoiling it for many. Still, the rave reviews have convinced BetWWTS to issue advanced odds for the film which is scheduled to be released November 3rd. BetWWTS has posted a projected gross for the opening 3 day weekend of $30 million with odds of 5/6 for both the over and under.

Three other movies are in wide release this week. The Black Dahlia, the story of 2 police in the 1940s who search for the killers of starlet Elizabeth Short; The Gridiron Gang, essentially a youth version of the Longest Yard where a group of juvenile delinquents play football to improve their attitude towards society; and Everyone's Hero, the animated story of Yankee Irving who travels across America to return the baseball bat of Babe Ruth in the 1932 World Series. BetWWTS has posted the following 3 day gross weekend odds.

Gridiron Gang: $18.5 million

The Black Dahlia: $13 million

Everyone's Hero: $5.5 million
