Why anyone could like a very overated Illinois team that just barely squeeked by Purdue in their last game. Since the return of Ballinger and Taylor Mich ST have been very impressive they are 4-2 ATS at home including winning and covering the last 4 meetings between these two teams at Mich St. Illinois is 2-8 ATS on the road and 4-6 ATS against their division. Not to mention that Mich St has already beaten them at Illinois by 7, I am sorry I may be missing something but for the life of me I can't see it. So I will have to go with the hometown Spartans -1 !

As has been the case all year, everyone just seems to be waiting for Illinois to snap out of it and be the team they were rated as to start the year. Maybe they will, but for me smart money says it won't happen tonight. It's amazing how much preseason rankings stay in the public mind, and that's why I believe the line started so low and has dropped even more.

Ohio State is clearly playing better than Illinois right now, and the Spartans got by them. Had Illinois managed to beat the Spartans at home 9 days ago, they would now have won 3 in a row and you could make a legitimate argument that they were beginning to turn things around. As it stands now, though, they struggled mightily against Mich and tried their best to lose to a not very good Purdue team and they've really showed no indication whatsoever that they're playing any better than the team that lost by 30 at Indiana and 20 at Ohio State.

Prediction: for what it's worth (not much), the Spartans steamroll my beloved Illini by 12, 80-68.
