Now that the glimmer of the Triple Crown fades away we can make way for a hot summer of horse racing. With the summer come a lot of turf runners and sprinters. We will also get a chance to see some of the experienced older horses running. Some of the bigger events we can keep an eye out for include the Jim Dandy, Travers Stakes, Haskell Invitational, and Pacific Classic.

The Jim Dandy and Travers Stakes both run at the beautiful Saratoga Race Course in New York. The Grade 2 Jim Dandy kicks off July 29 with a $500,000 purse. The Travers Stakes, aka ?summer derby? may well be the most anticipated race of the summer with talk of hosting several Triple Crown contenders including Jazil and Bernardini. The $1 million Travers Stakes is scheduled for Aug. 26.

At Monmouth we can look forward to the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational. This big summer event runs on Aug 6 and comes with a big shiny $1 million purse. Heading towards the first weekend of Sept we have the Pacific Classic where ?surf meets turf?. This event held in Southern California at Del Mar will have our 3 year olds racing for a tasty $1 million. We will keep you posted with further details on all the summers? upcoming events.
