As a season ticket holder at a Big-10 school, I'm having mixed feelings as to this move.

I understand the coaches wanting to have a bye week within the season, which they will have next season due to a quirk in the calendar.

But for fans that have tickets to those home games--traditionally Minnesota is Iowa's last opponent--that cuts into any plans you may have for Thanksgiving.

It will only happen every other year, but it still can and probably will cause problems for some fans.

Any of the other Big-10 fans here have an opinion on this move to a 13 week schedule so teams can have a bye week?

How many years before they just add a 13th game?

And why couldn't they add the game in Aug.? Iowa's first home game next year is Aug 30th, why not Aug 23rd for the 1st game?

Redsfann,

I totally agree with what you said. I mean WTF :SIB Who needs to be sitting outside in -10* weather in December  . :com:
1st game should be Aug 23rd. Nothing happens that week anyway. All the college kids are back by Aug 15th, and it would be warm.
When they wake up and take our advice :142smilie , then they will add a conference championship game and we will be in December anyway:nono: Money talks, Bullshit walks...

I was hoping this would happen--not for an off week, but so that the Big 10 Champion would not have to sit around as long if they were playing in the BCS Championship, like OSU has had to do the last 2 years.

Nothing I would love more than spending Thanksgiving weekend gettting ready for "The Game." Tho OSU-Michigan won't be pushed back next year. Tressel said he was not in favor of it because he felt it was more important for the players to spend time with family during T-giving. I hope that means he has found a way to overcome the long lay-off this year!!!!
