Me and my friend are having this debate on which is the biggest betting sporting event in the world. My assumption is that Soccer is the biggest in the world. He believes NFL football is. I told him World Cup is by far the most bet sport in the world easily. He says I'm on crack.... but for whatever reason, I can't seem to find any statistics on this on the web. Does anyone have any ideas???

My assumption is that every country in the world watches soccer except US. Therefore, the biggest wager sporting event would be the World Cup and perhaps Soccer in general. But I cant find any websites with stats on this.
The most watched sport is World Cup believe it or not. 95 million tune in to this years superbowl. 5.6 billion people tune into 2006 month long world cup.
It's horse racing and its probably not even close.
Theres hundreds of tracks world wide and 10 or 20 races each day I'm pretty sure.
I personally don't know if its a sport and don't like it in the least, but it's government supported and state run and legal and really really big in the orient.

Not sure if Horse racing is consider a sport and if it was, it would surely be the biggest betting sport.
If it's a Race - If it has wagering-If it requires handicapping to produce a winner-If it requires Judges to apply rules for the participants-If it has a participant Hall of Fame-Hearken back to the Duck.
