weather could reach 90 degrees today.
slight wind but great conditions otherwise.

This buffalo team is not good by any means.

OL is an abortion, especially right side.

QB has major decision making difficulties.

Little depth at WR. Take away Moulds and this may be worst group of receivers in league. Peerless Price must step up and hold on to the ball.

First game in new 4-3 alignment for defense.Bills generated little pass rush in preseason from 1st unit. Will miss run stopper washington emmensly.

Little depth at linebacker and secondary

Christie in major slump.

Special teams continued to be a diaster in camp and preseason. Rookie punter, rookie snapper, no punt returner, no KO returner.

Flutie may be in SD and they cleared out as many Flutie supporters from locker room as possible but there still lingers some resentment in keeping Johnson.

Good points about Bills:

Henry is the real deal. Very explosive runner.

Moulds may be best receiver in league not named Moss. If only he had a top notch QB.

Cowart is healthy and is in the ray lewis category. This guy is all over the field on every play.

I think things get ugly at Rich Stadium today. If johnson plays badly the crowd will turn quickly. Western NY loved Flutie and identified with his blue collar work ethic. He was the overwhelming choice at QB by the fans. Johnson's laid back California attitute does not sell in Buffalo and unless he shows marked improvement from the preseason you can expect alot of sacks and a costly INT or 2 from him today. There is TONS of pressure on him to preform and I don't think he has the head to handle it. I can not think of a worst team for the Bills to open with. New orleans front four will be in the backfield all day.

new orleans 27 buffalo 10

The Saints led the league in quarterback sacks last year. The Bills were third last in giving up sacks. This doesn't look like it will change.

With Christie out special team play becomes more important. Can Buffalo get a 40+ yard field goal when they need it. Field position on kickoffs etc.

New Orleans should be the play here.

Line in Buffalo (local book) has moved up to 4.

Shows that bills fans, who have watched this team closely, have no faith in them at all.

post game thoughts;

Johnson continues to show no improvement. Decision making is poor, holds on to ball too long, has no guts to try and throw ball into tight spots.

How can you have a receiver of Moulds calibier and throw his way only three times? I don't care if the guy is double teamed. he is a playmaker. Throw the ball up and let him go and get it. Moving him around a little might help.

If Cowart's injury is severe ( and it might be. Achilles'heel injuries are bad news. if he was a horse they would shoot him)then the defense will being losing their heart and soul.

OL looked terrable. Fina ia a piece of s**t. How this guy keeps a job is beyond me. Bills rushed for 125 yards but 31 came on a reverse by price (in which ref missed a obvious cut block by Brown), and 23 on Johnson scrambles. Henry had no room to run most of day.

DL did a nice job on the run ( Williams and hansen held their own) but had no pass rush. One sack early in the game. CB Winfield led team in tackles with 7. Losing Cowart hurt bad.

Overall, the Saints did not play well and still won easily. Head to miami next week and then to Indy. Only game that looks winnable in near future is Pittsbugh on 9-30.

My daughter was at game and said 4th quarter was non-stop fights in the stands. Best one was a fan in johnson jersey against one in flutie jersey. She says they were both in their 50's and slugged it out but good. For those scoring it at home she gave the nod to the guy in the flutie jersey.

No team is as good as they look when they win and no team is as bad as they look when they lose.
