The Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday alleged golfer Phil Mickelson made $931,000 after purchasing stock on an insider trading tip from sports gambler Billy Walters and then used some of the money to pay back Walters, to whom he allegedly owed money.

a bet

BW booking bet?

Phil would be a great beard for BW, I was thinking, but why would Phil have to do that?

I'd love to know the real story about this. BW's lawyer claims complete innocence but why would the other dude resign immediately and plead guilty?

All the money BW has and he had to get even more greedy at this stage of his life and risk having to go and do time? :nooo:

Once the Feds put you on their radar you need to move away from anything that even sounds illegal. They're are relentless in pursuing you for anything they can find. You will mess up sooner or later and they will be there.

He's a lifelong thief and con man. Look how many people he had to have in his pocket to get those land deals. We're not talking about the luckiest man on Earth here.

As for Phil? You can bet your last dollar he lost big money to this clown on the golf course. Phil is a degenerate gambler, and action junkie, while Walters is a cold, calculating, sonofabitch. You can bet that Walters only played when he had the best of it.

I did not think that BW booked bets, but rather has the spider network to place them. Can't see Phil sitting around all day waiting on the phone to ring to be one of his runners either, but as you say probably a golf bet cause Phil loves the action. With no juice involved then a golf bet is perfectly legal. Probably why Phil isn't even more accountable for the actions of the inside trading scoop?
