Michael Bishop is ready for another shot at the Argonauts.
Parachuted into the lineup to help bring a gasping Winnipeg Blue Bombers offence to life, the ex-Toronto quarterback will get the start for the Bombers at the Rogers Centre on Saturday afternoon.
"A lot of people say there is a lot riding on this game," Bishop said on Friday afternoon. "But I have been there, done that. It's just a game.
"This is not going to make someone jump off a cliff if you don't win."
Both clubs have been through some interesting days since the Argos dusted the Bombers 19-5 in Winnipeg last Friday.
Bombers coach Mike Kelly gave up on quarterback Stefan LeFors (for now), and brought in Bishop, who was at home in Texas. The Argos traded receiver Arland Bruce to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, ridding themselves of more potential off-field headaches.
Toronto is 2-2 after four games and could send Winnipeg, at 1-3, further into the East Division basement with a win.
"Bishop will challenge you," Argos cornerback Jordan Younger said. "He has a real belief in his arm strength, and at times that has hurt him. But I have been on the side where he brought us back in games when he played in Toronto. We're just going to try to make sure he does not get hot and don't let him get into a rhythm."
Bishop and Argos quarterback Kerry Joseph were mired in controversy last season until Bishop was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders at the end of August. In the final game of the season, Bishop and the Roughriders beat the Argos in Toronto, but Bishop was not a major factor in the win.
Argos defensive tackle Adriano Belli is "unlikely" to play, head coach Bart Andrus said. Belli has a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee and did not take part in the walk-through on Friday, nor did he practise this week. Rookie Etienne Legare is slated to make his first Canadian Football League start in Belli's spot.
Meanwhile, defensive end Corey Mace, whose CFL rights were acquired by the Argos in the trade that sent Bruce to Steeltown, has signed with the Buffalo Bills. It's not a surprising development, considering that Paul Sheehy, Mace's agent, told Sun Media on Thursday that he did not see Mace playing for Toronto.
