Blazer,

I lump you in with your pal Wilson, in being one who is not informed or just wishes to be a stupid.

I am a Canadian, Let me tell you a little story of the effect of war. Two years ago I traveled to France to remeber a group called the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. This group fought in WW1 under British command as at the time we were a colony of Britian. My Grandfather fought with this regiment. I never really thought to much about the War as my Grandfather never ever spoke of it. My visit explained why. Hundreds of men were killed in less the the lenght of a football field. Sent over the top for King and Country. Boys of the age of 15 and 16 as the ages are marked on the hundrds of grave markers that line the fields row by row. You could feel the chill when you entered the lines that still feeling. My Uncle also fought in WW2 , He is now 78 years of age I sat with him two years ago over a couple of beers in a pub in my City. I told him of my travel and he told me of two stories one of my Grandfather being in a trench with his friend who had been dead for two days. The second was his own. That was of young
American men being mowed down by German fire as they jumped off the ships to go forward on the beaches. His memory is of their smilling faces. Young men.

So Wilson check the facts Canadians gave their lives in two of the bloodies wars in History, do some research on Vimmy Ridge. A Canadian monument to those that lost thier lives so that we may live in the democratic Countries we live in today.

War is not all winners, don't just wrap yourself in the flag. Feel for those will will loose their lives.

Dont let them get to you, some of these guys like to sound tough, but yet I dont think they have enlisted to go over and fight in a senseless war. I respect Canada's decision, I think they along with the majority of the world were correct in not invading a country. We all know this war is over OIL.

the "oil" argument is garbage....get off it already...

and NO it is NOT senseless...take a look at some of the Iraqi people/olympic athletes who have fled from there and LISTEN to what they have to say....

or does your media completely ignore those stories and instead pays attention to the ones we see who are terrorized to fight against us? whose women and children will be executed who do not pick up a gun???

we are going to the HEART of Baghdad to cut off the head of the snake....that is NOT senseless....trying to not even fight against anyone else who is forced to pick up a gun but instead trying to go right in there risking our own lives for the sake of the people -- does that strategy sound like it is for oil??????

The majority of the world is almost always on the wrong side anyway...look throughout history....Europe sleeps through all major crises until they are too much to handle...

This is NOT an illegal invasion....it is a continuation of the 91 gulf war (where Uncle Saddam indeed was the invader) where there WAS NOT PEACE TREATY....there was a cease fire based on Hussein's pledge to comply.....finally after 12 years of noncompliance, defiance, mockery, making a joke of the UN, it was not the time to be patient anymore...it was time for action

let Canada be....they can sit on their ungrateful asses as long as they want....we dont care anymore....cant get an old mule to run no matter how hard you kick it....just like the French....those Quebecsters would probably go desicrate our graves just like their bastard heritage

Canada thanks for serving in the past.....it is much appreciated....but there is no need to spit upon us now....

Dear Dr.

Who is spitting on you, my article is just to inform you of our service in the past. As with the US our country is very devided in its opinion regarding this war. Each person is allowed to express his or hers opinion (democracy at work). I believe each Government who is elected has the right to listen to its people. If they think that the majority of the people agree that proper force is needed then one must fight. I will not get into a bitch session on if this is right or wrong. I just wished to inform you that we did serve and did give up many lives for freedom. This Country has a great love its neighbor. Ask anyone who traveled during 911 and landed in a place called Gander Newfoundland or St. John's, People opened their homes to individuals that needed a place to stay. They gave supplies gave what they had because they cared.

again we thank you for your support in the past and you have the right to boo our flag or do whatever....but we have the freedom as you do to voice our opinions about Canada....as you do about the war....

and it may be time for Canada to pay the piper somewhat for electing a jackass for a prime minister -- in particular Quebec -- we do NOT forget so easily as do the French

Dr.,

History will be written. I personally know the man and he is truely a fine man. He is from a working class family, worked in a pulp and paper mill to put himself through school. Has taken this Country to be one of the leaders in economic growth in the G7 countries. May be will agree to disagree. Do not lump all Canadians as one. Some respect the right and flags of each and every person. Do a little digging on some of the info I left you in my last post. Some of these event happen in the US as well as Canada.

Since you called me out..I will offer my two cents.

I never said anything about Canada's past performance in combat. I was talking about now..nothing more or less.

Canada snubbed us at a time we needed your support. That is the fact. No excuses. Down the road, if and when you need help...I am quite sure you will be asking your great neighbor below to assist. Guess what...we will be there to help.

i don`t think there is as much anti-canadian sentiment here in the u.s. as there is anti-chretien sentiment....he may be a fine man,but he has no use for america...not hard to understand american frustration regarding his anti-americanism....justified or not,you can`t expect americans to embrace a guy that hates them..

but, there is no doubt that our countries are joined at the hip....literally.....administrations will come and go on both sides...let`s hope the recent unfriendly american-canadian feelings can be tempered and healed...

Wilson,

The present has a past, one can not just look at the present and make an opinion. Read the rest of my posts on the 911. Many of us have always lent a hand.

Canada is in the majority opinion of the rest of the world in regards to this senseless invasion of Iraq, and yes Dr. Freeze this is about the Oil. As far as your rant that we cutting off the head of a ruthless dictator thats too funny, there are 100's of other ruthless regimes that are brutal to their people yet we do nothing. Why dont we go after China, there regime is quite ruthless? What about North Korea? This is all about the jack and you can bet that Bush and his cronies are allready counting the cash that they will make from this hostile colonalism of Iraq. Yes of course the rest of the world is wrong and again the U.S.A. is right. Just follow the trail of money!

You are so blinded by the Left Wing Democratic and Liberal Smack that I bet you actually believe that crap about this just being over oil! Man I think about some of the most idiotic things I have heard in my life.........EMU farms, Ginsu Knives, and Amway and your idea of this war being just a colonization of Iraq for oil ranks right up there with all of em! You people are killing me with this crap! There is a serious problem that you people are forgetting.....these people are supporting terrorism and killing their own people! Yes you have a legitimate point that their are other countries that are as brutal.........We have just not gotten to them yet! I bet all you liberals will stand up and exclaim that when we invade North Korea that we are just trying to colonize them for Rice! Maybe we ought to invade China for their Great Wall.......we'll just sack em and then bring that big old sucker over here and put it in the Dakota's! You are some bunch of Morons!

In 1991 Saddam Hussein attempted to take over Kuwait on his way to try to conglomerate control over the entire Middle East and put a stranglehold on the West.....

Mr. Hussein INVADED Kuwait FOR OIL!!!!!!!!!

ARGHHHHHHHH!!

This INVASION prompted the GULF WAR which ended shortly thereafter with Mr. Hussein agreeing to comply with UN Resolutionsin a CEASEFIRE. THERE WAS NO PEACE TREATY SIGNED THUS THE WAR/MR. HUSSEIN's INVASION WAS NEVER ENDED.

Mr. Hussein's quest for oil, riches, and power has led him to amass chemical weapons, support terrorism financially and charismatically, brutalize his own people -- killing thousands of them UNJUSTLY.....and also has made a mockery of the SANCTIONS in which OVER 20 TIMES the UN Has condemned -- the latest of which has authorized the use of force if he failed to comply.

Now, we know that Mr. Hussein has indeed INVADED for oil....yet why does the world think that the US is invading for oil? Why does the world thikn that our gov't is invading for oil....HAS ANYONE ON THIS BOARD IN SUPPORT OF THIS WAR INDICATED WE ARE GOING OVER THERE FOR THEIR OIL???? HAS ANYONE IN THE COUNTRY WHO IS FOR THIS WAR (which is not over 70%) INDICATED THAT WE ARE THERE FOR THE OIL???? NO!!!!!

Then WHY i ask do you keep assuming it as such?? When NO ONE PROCLAIMS IT? NO CONSERVATIVE CLAIMS IT. None. No Republican. No one in this oil made city of Houston claims it. Yet you fools keep proclaiming it??? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

THe only way oil plays a part of the equation is keeping the entire world's supply from being conglomerated (which was what prompted Gulf War I for the most part).....THE WEALTH OF THE NATION will go to the IRAQI PEOPLE.....YOU WAIT AND WATCH

Gulf War II has to do with Husseins failure to comply with the resolutions concerning WMD and the POSSIBILITY/LIKELIHOOD of those falling into the hands of Terrorists. Given Mr. Husseins record, he is the #1 threat of supporting terrorist organizations capable of hitting the US and other countries with WMD. CHina is not. N. Korea is not. Iraq is. China and N. Korea do not have much to do with extreme Muslim fundamentalist terror groups which is where are clear and present danger now resides. They have their own issues which will be dealt with separately. RIght now we are dealing with Iraq. No one else. To bring the argument htat there are 100 regimes that "could" be a problem argues for inaction with all of them. THat is a joke of a foreign policy. You need to prioritize the list and right now Iraq is at the top of the list -- mostly because we never did get done finish dealing with them and after 12 years of being very patient with this regime we have had enough.

Ok Bluemound Freak. I do have to double check your thouht if we were just there for ther oil. We would just take it and leave.
When in about 20 years? Man they are estimated to have 115 to 125 billion barrels. That's goning to take along time to bumb out. So I would forget that part of your debate. Texas at one time it was said had about 130 to 150 billion barrels. We anit got that all out of the ground yet and we been trying for 100 years.

Dr,

Way be this why the Pm could not sell this war,

4 Canadian troops killed by U.S. friendly fire
April 18, 2002
TORONTO (AP) ? Prime Minister Jean Chretien pledged an investigation to answer questions about the deaths of four Canadian soldiers killed by a U.S. laser-guided bomb Thursday during a training exercise in Afghanistan.

Chretien expressed his condolences to the soldiers' families during a speech to Parliament in Ottawa hours after the first Canadian deaths in Afghanistan.

He said Canada owed the troops a "debt of gratitude that is beyond mortal computation."

"We have so many questions this morning," Chretien said. "I want to assure the families and people of Canada that these questions will be answered."

"President Bush has pledged full cooperation of Americans with us in the investigation that is already under way," he said.

Besides the four dead, eight Canadians were injured when an American F-16 fighter mistakenly dropped the bomb on the soldiers during a live-fire training exercise near the southern Afghan city of Kandahar at about 1:55 a.m. local time, Pentagon and Canadian officials said.

It appeared the pilot didn't know he was flying over an area restricted for training ? and so fire from the training exercise made him believe he was under attack, Pentagon officials said.

The Canadian prime minister questioned how soldiers could be killed in a training exercise, but he did not say what questions the investigation would pursue. The soldiers were members of the 3rd Battalion of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, which is based near Edmonton, Alberta.

Canadian forces are fighting alongside U.S. and European troops seeking to hunt down remnants of Osama bin Laden's terrorist organization and holdouts from Afghanistan's former ruling Taliban militia.

"The campaign against terrorism is the great global struggle for justice in the 21st century," Chretien said. "As in all conflicts of the past, Canada has been on the front lines."

"The Canadian armed forces have set themselves apart with their valor, daring and skill," he said. "Words cannot fully express the pride that all Canadians have felt at the exemplary way they have carried out their duty."

Vinny, Whatsamatter? Oh, you were through
anyway. Well, allow me to retort.

I don't know why I was singled out. I often make jokes and expect you to take them like a Man. Sorry if I bruised your tender ego.

I can understand your US envy. But for the most part I like Canadians. I really like the wealthy ones that enjoy American Music and travel in droves to my fair-weathered city. Thank you for all your commerce. I know it's nice here, that's why I live here.

I don?t care about you and your ?Gong Show? of a Grandfather. Stop with the anti-American rhetoric. Unless you pay taxes and vote you have no right to bitch.

I?m not ?trying to be stupid?. I am not ?attempting to act Dumb?. Being a Jackass? Well maybe, I?ve been called worse. I know that I live in the best damn country in the world. Put that in you maple leaf pipe and smoke it.

Vinny, you may refer to me as American Jackass. I know we are better, and I?m not shy enough to hide it. Without America, the Jews would of all been killed, The Great Bear would of colonized the world or everyone would be ruled by a madman form the Middle East. Without Canada?. well there would be more Europeans in the NHL.
