The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced this morning that starting quarterback Drew Willy will be lost for at least six to eight weeks with the right knee injury he suffered on Sunday in Hamilton.
Willy suffered a tibeal plateau fracture and a partial PCL tear when Erik Harris hit him in the third quarter just as he released a pass. Willy landed awkwardly on his right knee, which he also injured two weeks ago in Edmonton.
That means the Bombers will have to go with either Robert Marve or Brian Brohm as their starting quarterback on Friday night against the Toronto Argonauts and beyond. The Bombers said the six to eight weeks that Willy is expected to miss is the ?earliest recovery time? for his injuries.
If Willy is out six weeks, he would miss five games against Toronto, Calgary, Saskatchewan (two games) and Montreal. If it's eight weeks, he would also sit out clashes against Calgary and Edmonton.
The Bombers are fourth in the West Division, half-a-game back of the third-place B.C. Lions.
