Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt)

Paul Casey to win 14/1 e.w. @ William Hill, GolfingGods and Boyle Sports
Had been looking to avoid players who had competed in the both the PGA Championship and the Bridgestone Invitational, but Casey's record after competing in those two events is very impressive. He did so in 2003 and finished 3rd, again in 2004 and finished 3rd again, while last year he missed the cut when in a slump. That has not been the case this year as shown by his 3rd place ranking on the Order of Merit and he did play very well last week and should have finished higher than the 4th place that he did. On this course that is set up for big-hitters, he really should finish in the top-3 once again.

Niclas Fasth to win 40/1 e.w. available generally
Fasth has already won this year (Open de Espana) and even though his form dipped thereafter, he did finish in the top-15 in his last two European Tour starts. But it was a similar story last year as he was far from consistent, but still won Two Tour events. In fact, one of the few areas in which he is consistent is when he is playing in Germany. Since the start of the 2003 season, he has finished outside the top-12 in Germany only once, winning once and being placed in four of seven events. He should fancy his chances on this course.

Jason Day to win 150/1 e.w. @ Coral
A big price for the 18-year-old phenom from Australia. The 2004 Junior World Champion turned professional only this summer and has already earned two top-15 finishes in his last three PGA Tour starts. He has never played this course, but with his drives averaging 330 yards in last week's Reno-Tahoe Open (and he still hit 86% of fairways), he should prosper on this course and 150/1 is a very generous price.

Henrik Stenson(20/1) e.w.
Jarmo Sandelin(100/1) e.w.
Emanuele Canonica(80/1) e.w.
Marcel Siem(125/1) e.w.

- - Stenson has been overdue to waken from his slumbering . . . I was committed to Sandelin when he caught his second wind and I remain so . . . I haven't given up on Canonica having a 2006 season that builds nicely on his 2005 season . . . Siem is either shrewd or silly, as are all the wagers.

I've spent most of my capping during the last ten days trying to get up to speed on the start of football season (except while watching scores over the weekend to see if Cink, Bean or Ogilvie could deliver a nice return, or local boy Lonnie Nielsen could come good), so I can't claim any true due diligence on my plays this week, or probably for the rest of the season.

Question re 5dimes -

I can deal with their new site format - lousy as it is - but does anyone know whether it's a done deal and that Win Only and no place wagers on golf outrights is all that will be offered in the future? :mj13: Thanks.

FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -3.00pts

Casey 13th
Fasth 42nd
Day mc

Disappointing effort from Casey who started the weekend as the 3rd-favourite, but was 3-over-par for the first 15 holes to end his hopes of even a place return.

European Tour ytd: 8-46; -18.46pts

Might be a while on place only options--tough time to get changes made with foots starting up.
They have been pretty speedy on corrections so far.Tried to make withdrawal there after site change and got this---"Your customer information was not found within our cashier system" They fixed it in less than 24 hours.

Stan: Despite not making cut your Jason Day selection was one of best I seen in a while. Most excellent research! Doubt he stays under radar much longer.

Thanks DTB.

Are you implying that it was "unintentional" that the place options at 5dimes were dropped because of the software changes, and that they will be added back in due course, based on a communication with them?

Thanks again.

LIA They were vague on timeline but sounded like they would bring back place on Euro and PGA at some point. I remember going round with them when they quit doing place only on Beards and Bush--got same response as SIA and Oly gave that they got little action on those markets--which I find hard to believe.
