Bodog is constantly issuing press releases of this or that (primarily on the non sports events) but very little of what they do are there own ideas. To make matters worse they usually have a hold of over 300% on the non sports bets which is bad for all sportsbooks because when newbies to the business go to check them out because of the press release they see these lousy lines. As such the newbies probably believe that all sportsbooks fleece their customers. Plus lets not forget that last year when they lost a bundle on Survivor, instead of sucking it up they made claims that the bettors were CBS employees (although they never proved it) and refused to pay them. Yet instead of coming out and saying we lost a lot on this thing and won't pay, instead they made this grand press release that Bodog has stopped taking bets on Survivor because they know the winners as CBS employees started betting on it and they weren't going to be paid.

Again this book is bad for the industry and these types of businesses that provide fuel to the Senator Kyl's and Goldblatt's of the world.

Not defending Bodog, but how exactly do you get the hold above 100%? Margin calls? If you meant to say the hold is triple that of sports events, I would not find that unusual at all.

Hold % meaning the theoretical hold. If you add up the odds of all the possible payouts it comes to more than 200% which is fleecing. Actually I notice Bodog gets bashed on all the posting forums except bettorsworld where they advertise. They are a joke to the industry.

Again, no love for Bodog, but anytime you have those long list props, the odds are miserable anywhere when you add up the lists. Look at anyone's odds to win the Super Bowl -- a total joke to bet on. What is important to the books is their exposure on each one, or how much they win/lose in agggregate on any of the permutations of outcomes. Their objective is to make money under any scenario. Don't think you're looking at this objectively. The proper definition of hold % is how much of the amount wagered stays in their pocket. It can't be over 100%.

Rudy, untrue. Olympic puts up way more props than any other book (go look at ours compared to others) if u notice the same props, where do u think they came from. As for Hold anything over 200% is a joke

As an example look at the Governor's race. Bodog has Schwartzennneger at 1/10, Bustamante at 7/5, Davis at 4/1 and Ueberroth at 6/1. Forget the rest as they have no chance. That means for the 4 real candidates the hold is 167% or a hold of 16.5% per candidate. It's an absolute joke. Olympic has the same 4 with a hold of 120% or 5% per candidate. That's fine as it's Bodog's right to offer whatever they want - if people are dumb enough to bet those lines then sobeit. The problem is that they issue these press releases to mainstream media saying "look what we have!" and if Bodog is the first place a newbie sees when betting they'll think the whole offshore betting industry has sucky lines.

Bodog as Chris pointed out is also a follower. They take odds from other places on most events which is fine (both the innovative books like Olympic, WWTS, Pinnacle etc.) and followers can succeed. But at least they are honest about it. Olympic offers stuff for their customers but doesn't go to the media with it which I guess is Spiros' choice. But because he doesn't go to the media with it and Bodog knows this, they wait until Olympic releases their lines and then they'll copy them with minor adjustments, make a press release and state that Bodog is the first to offer.... If I recall correctly with the Emmy Awards Bodog issued a release saying they were the first with odds when in fact WWTS had them out a day earlier.

I received the monthly newsletter from BoDog this week at one of my obsure and less used email addresses. The whole thing was about these two chicks who supposedly work in the call center and how they screwed each other. Never played there and never will. A sportsbook sending a newsletter about some fictional lesbo crap?? What a joke...

They also don't pay their advertising after they bug you to death, first you get 3 to 4 letters from Rg saying how they want to do something and run thier newsletter, then they have some chick m call you and double talk and fax paper work back and forth. Then they ask fo everything in the world and for 3 months bemt over backwards for them, kept asking about check not a big price for what they got, then got the check is being mailed had to write and call 7 rimes never saw a check at all cut them off. then to top it off m calls the office and emailed me 3 times asling what the problem was she noticed i had taken them down told her and was told there was a mistake and it would be sent went through extra time to put them back in and you got it no pay, i would not send anyone there which i gave them clients but all our pulling out because they are unable to be trusted. they are a black eye imo and lot of others if they scam on advertising players could get the high hard one worse. RG you need to either be more hands on and change marketing people or maybe you like to change contracts and agreements and i am not the only one it happened to and always a excuse, then the last one was and it was used at a few others and one day i might post them all i saved them but they said we had to retool our marketing and no longer to keep agreement , well hell you sucked out 4 free months and gotto billing beides pinnacle who has always stood by their word thanks javier you are great to work with and i know with pinnacle players will never have a problem. No way in hell would i trust friends or clients to snowdog. piss poor way to runa business RG.

And your news letter you got to run for free since you never paid sucked it was built up so big i dropped a good writer for your company for 4 months and i got nothing worth while but you sure got clients and juiced up lines on some of them. one day i might have a major thorn up my ass and post all the letters from miss. M and let everyone see the bs i was fed and like i said more then just my business got the same song and dance, black list my friend and that is maybe a little to high to rate your operation.

Another thing about these fools. Their website says that if you make a withdrawal before rolling over your initial deposit plus bonus the requisite 5 times that you will lose the bonus and all amounts won!!! Unbelievable.
