Still winless on the season, the Winnipeg Jets will try again to pick up an elusive victory on Monday night when they play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins on the NHL betting board.

Hockey fans in Manitoba are happy to finally have their team back, but they can't be happy about their club's defensive play so far this season. In three games against the Canadiens, Blackhawks, and Coyotes the Jets managed to give up 13 goals.

In their last game on Saturday night the offense went missing as well, with Andrew Ladd providing the team's lone marker in a 4-1 road loss against the Coyotes in Phoenix. Backup netminder Chris Mason got the start, allowing four goals on 34 shots.

The Penguins aren't expected to have Sidney Crosby in the lineup on Monday ? he's been cleared for contact but no return date has been set ? and they could be missing Evgeni Malkin as well. Malkin sat out the team's 3-2 loss to the Sabres on Saturday night with a sore knee.

Despite those injury woes, though, the Pens are 3-1-2 to start the season, although they haven't been great in their own end either ? they allowed 16 goals in those six games, winning only because they've scored 18 goals of their own.

When the Jets were still the Atlanta Thrashers they didn't have any luck against the Penguins, going 1-9 over their final 10 meetings. The OVER/UNDER was 5-4-1 in those 10 contests.

The Penguins are at 15/2 to win the championship this season, with the Jets back at 65/1 on the Stanley Cup futures board.
