?Bones? favored to win UFC light heavyweight title
Jon "Bones" Jones is favored to take the UFC Light Heavyweight title away from current champ Mauricio "Shogun" Rua when the two square off in the main event at UFC 128 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday.
MMA Odds at betED.com have Jones as a -185 moneyline favorite and Rua a +155 underdog.
Rua became the champion by beating out Lyoto Machida at UFC 113. He managed to knock Machida out in the first round to win the title. Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury and was forced to undergo knee surgery following the fight. He has not fought a single fight since winning the championship nearly a year ago. It will be interesting to see if he is still in top form after so much time away from the ring.
Jon Jones is a young fighter that has really showed that he belongs in the UFC since beginning in 2008. In his time in the UFC he has actually only lost one fight. The loss came in 2009 by way of disqualification. Jones was throwing elbows.
Rashad Evans was initially scheduled to fight, but Jones will take his place. In his most recent fight Jones managed to beat Ryan Bader. Bader was unbeaten and lost his shot at facing Rua by dropping the fight.
This fight should be the most exciting fight of the night as everything is on the line for both fighters. Jones may never bet a chance to become a champion again and needs to take advantage of his opportunity.
betED.com has UFC Odds for all 12 scheduled bouts at UFC 128.
