a) this is about Brian Molony, a film owning Molony is based on the story. well written and a great story, believe though it was a large case of fraud has a happy ending.
b) Molony had a gambling problem, if you are betting 5000/10000 on each home team in one league or road team in the other then you may have a problem. or lose a million or two at the tables in vegas.
great story.
Scurvy by Stephen R. Bown
believe you can still get this book in Canada through chapters.
in the winter of 2004/05 Dec Jan had a few people in the hospital, and almost die, touch and go....anyways someone I know who reviews books gave me a few to read.
so since there was illness all around I picked out the book on Scurvy
254 pages and maybe not a page turner but things I learned about Scurvy.
1. was one of the most important decided factors in the naval wars between the british /french/spanish
2. American revolution would have had a different outcome....though the author believes it would have been history delayed, not changed..
3. how sometimes science do not use the facts that they are facing...
4. you cannot get scurvy anymore....yes even if you do not touch a vegetables and eat junk food and the worse diet, no scurvy....by the way you will die from other things though....
5. if you ever believe you are tough, you should read this book and understand what men would do for money and food,/survival....it shows how strong the human spirit truly is....
book plan to read some year.
Paris 1919, about the peace conference following WW1.
