1st Boyles--which I didn't mind so much--but this one is a killer for me as they are one of few that have certain option I am particularily fond of--

Dear Wayne

According to our database, the account information that you have registered with Betfred lists you as residing in the United States of America.

Please be advised that, following the recent actions by US regulators, Betfred has regretfully had to take the decision not to accept any sportsbook business through our website or call centre from any US citizen.

Any sportsbook accounts which we believe originate in the USA will be closed with immediate effect and should you have any funds in your account they will be returned.

If you currently have funds in your sportsbook account, we would be grateful if you would contact our Customer Service department on 1-800 780 9364 or by email at customer.service@betfred.com to arrange for the balance to be repaid.

On behalf of Betfred, can we apologise for this inconvenience and thank you for your previous custom.

Kind regards,

Betfred Customer Service Team.

Hard luck for you US guys - in Germany the situation is also heating up, WillHill and Ladbrokes blocking German customers.
One really would wish there were equal regulations like in the gambling country UK...

That's ridiculous. All they have to do is restrict you to internet only....no phone bets. Existing wire act was made in something like 1961 when there was no internet. There have been no laws passed regarding the internet (yet).

BetFred changing their tune further.

Just received this email ...

"This email applies only to US affiliates and US sports punters.

Unfortunately, due to recent US law changes, Betfred does not allow American citizens to place bets on our sportsbooks ..."

What recent US law changes?

They should get their facts straight before falling over themselves trying to avoid being jailed the next time they go Florida on holiday!

No UK firm can risk taking US residents' bets at the moment. Whilst it's supposed to legal in the UK to do it, the threats from the US are putting bigger, more regulated books off. Some of the smaller firms like Betfred and Boyles carried on, but this has all got a bit too serious for them now.

The only hope is that the US try and root out all the bad guys, and set up a thoroughly regulated system that the best UK and US books can compete fairly in. Sadly it looks like all this is just going after 1 bad guy coupled with some moral posturing....can't see that they'll actually sort it out properly for a long time.

Typical that it's the man in the street who wants a bet that loses out again....I reckon it'll push people towards illegals again too

ps the way round it is to use a Canadian address - that's ok all round - use a paypal or neteller account to avoid the banking addresses not matching.

The Canadian address/Neteller use to work well Hoss--however in the past year most are requiring ID--three usually with your residence addy on each--Sportingbet.AU made me jump through hoops then cancel account 2 months later on U.S. resident issue :(

When building complete in April of next year will have legit Chinese address but don't know they will handle IP address originating in U.S.

Several I don't care about but if Centrebet opts for same avenue it will definately hurt big time--however had account there thru another before they let me in.

Prob is I hate to put folks thru the inconvenience--Fortunate to have met such quality people in golf forums--several I would have no prob in giving every ID and password I have and wouldn't lose a wink of sleep.

DTB, I'll check out the neteller issue...I'm pretty well connected when it comes to these things in the UK.... :SIB

Very few books over here use IP address checking at the moment - and those that do are generally checking for duplicate accounts or poker cheats. I know the odd one has started checking but it's caused more trouble than it's worth given how many UK users have AOL....the servers show as in the US sometimes, so they were blocking the wrong people.

Happy to let you know more specifics - get my e-mail off Jack if you want.

I'm fearing email from Cbet any day--they just completed 2nd rd at the womens across the creek and was fortunate to go 5-0 on 3balls plus parlay--have had unbelivable good bounces with them.

So far mostly Euro and Aussie books from my end--
Hurting on the place only option outs but hasn't made big diff on match play.
Might have figured way around it but don't know for sure yet. Acuman was not one of my trial books-but did like them as they were off beaten path with unique match ups though sparse.
Have Pharlap to thank for intro to them. Didn't have many plays there but hit good %.

One I miss most is Bet Fred--with there place only parlay option and their reluctance to move off their intial line in matches unless forced to.

DTB, do you still use GoTo Casino?

I haven't used them or MoneyPlays Casino for years, but got an email from Neteller offering free $100 bonus with GoTo, plus further 40% on any deposit this week.

Always nice to get free money, but is it one last desperate act?

Sorry Stan just now seeing Yep still use them.
However be careful as with GG. Last year was going thru $plays and site disappeared for over a month--I had guy at Sportsview intercede for me and they transfered my balance at $plays to Goto.
Withdrawels take a while to get so would be cautious on amount you leave in there.

There pretty shakey but add on neteller must have been effective as I applied for withdrawel on monday and for 1st time ever was paid same day.
Sportsbook Review still rates them a D

I read that elsewhere Ridle--a bummer--however Sky not near as desirable as once apon a time when they offered place only on beards and bush.

If I lived in UK/Canada I could see lots of opportunity out of these misfortunes :)
