BetCRIS.com Posts Odds on Whether Kazakhstan?s Government Will Issue an Official Statement Against Sacha Cohen?s Film
October 16, New York ? If you haven?t heard of the ex-Soviet republic of Kazakhstan you will now. On November 3rd, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, the film starring British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen is set to hit theatres. Not only has the buzz around the film started months in advance but the movie is going to be a hit among the teenage and young adult demographics. While most relatively unknown countries love to be recognized ? Kazakhstan is less than thrilled on how the nation and its people are being portrayed.
Baron Cohen?s alter ego Borat Sagdiyev is among the least politically correct characters to hit a movie screen in years. The plot of the film is based around Borat who sets off to America where he appalls a series of public figures and average joes with sexist, homophobic and anti-Semitic attitudes. As the buzz around the film grew louder the Kazakhstan government kicked off an advertising campaign in the U.S. and a threat of legal action against Cohen- to which the imaginary Borat reacted completely in character.
Wondering whether there will be an official statement from the Kazakhstan government and not just an ad campaign, analysts at BetCRIS Sportsbook posted the odds.
Will Kazakhstan?s government issue an official statement against Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan?
Yes 7.5 to 1
No 1 to 20
?Sacha Cohen is brilliant and damn funny,? said Mickey Richardson, CEO of BetCRIS.com. ?Kazakhstan is making a mountain out of a mole hill. Anyone knows he?s pretending to be from Kazakhstan and if they don?t I wouldn?t spend the dollars on an ad campaign trying to prove them otherwise!?
