Last night's Hawks game, John Wall hits a jumper putting Washington Up by 4 with 47 seconds. Millsap then misses a layup Morris gets the rebound with 37 seconds left two possession game. No foul??? John Wall uses the entire shot clock then misses with 13 seconds offensive rebound again no foul??

I was listening on the radio I'm not sure of the time out or foul situation it seems to me down four, you need time to score twice why would you let the other team use 2/3 of the time left?? Even if the foul resulted in two foul shots it makes the lead six and still two possession.

The minus five point spread was in jeopardy but I had a teaser over 203 and just needed two points to hit my bet. 0 points scored in the last 47 seconds of a four-point game unreal.

Of course not nearly as bad as losing by a hook the night before in the Houston game when I had the over 109 and a half it lands 109 and I see five missed layups two missed dunks and eight missed free throws in the last five minutes alone.. [emoji30]

Man that's brutal. Really makes you wonder wtf?!

I had a similar total mishap in NCAAB this year. ND hits a 3 with just over 30 seconds left to cut game to 7. ND immediately calls time out. ND comes out of timeout and backs off past half court and lets team run out clock. Why call timeout? To tell your guys not to foul? Don't think ya need a TO for that. Makes ya go hmmmmmmm

Rander I watched the same shit and found myself wondering why they didn't foul immediately. Buden is always known to extend games with fouls. Either way the ending stunk.

My 2 cents.....Pros tend to not foul in the closing seconds, because they have a shorter shot clock and feel the fouls shots are a more of an automatic....In the scenario of last night, they were hoping for a missed shot or turnover after 24 seconds or less....If they score a 2 or 3 in the next 5-10 seconds, this would leave them down 1 or 2 with 13- 20 seconds left. Then the fouls would start........ On the other hand, foul with 47 seconds left and go down 6, they feel is nearly impossible to overcome by continuing to foul and miss 3's........I'm not saying I agree with the strategy, just explaining. :0008

PS I imagine they run this shit through a computer and with past performances , they base their strategy on probability. Much like when to go for 2 or not, they may even have a chart (ie 40 -47 seconds left, you play defense, less than 40 seconds left, down 4,you foul)

or maybe because there's more there to it than meets the eye. So many questionable things happen regarding sides and total down the stretch, 2nd half plays too. Definitely think there are more involved in the game (players, coaches, refs) that are well aware of the point spread and where the money is than you might like to think....money lines are "safer" play in that regard but then there's a lot higher risk...

Big difference... Millsap was trying to get a call and for once, they don't blow whistle. Only 37 left when Washington took over, so yeah, you need to score twice in 13 seconds if you don't foul.

I have noticed that there are a shit ton of calls early, but in the 4th, suddenly changes. Been way obvious in this series.

I didn't see the end of this particular game. However I have noticed the NBA is coached differently than college in the last minutes , especially with the opportunity to get the ball out on their end in the closing seconds, and the fact percentage wise NBA players are better than college at foul shooting. I'm not trying to defend the league in this observation and have lost more than I've won in both college and pros in these type games.
