Box,

i would like for you to join me in taking a oath to never bet on Iona again until Coach Clueless is gone. I ran a system on Sports insight and Iona is 107-125-4 ATS and a $100 bettor has lost $2341 since he took over program. Betting against him has been a positive 9.9% return. This from a team that consistently has the most talent in the conference since he got there. He may be able to recruit but he can not coach a lick..

I realize that no one is going to get rich but it beats yelling instructions at the television that he never listens to.

twofingers, you are right..he is a terrible coach but he gets kids to Iona..he teaches no defense what so ever... I always remember a few years back they were playing @Marist...I get there early and his team is warming up..there is no layup line but a dunking line...the entire team is trying alley oops, off the backboard, double jams...it was a dunking contest and the few early Marist fans were in for a treat...then they start a shooting pregame...everyone taking 3's from the NBA line... I remember English and Williams hitting these shots from 35 feet out..everyone loose and laughing...and there pre-game warm ups was exactly like the played... and I can't remember but those 2 guys were hitting them during the game... Tim noCluess has never had a power center...Washington a few yrs ago but a 6'8 rebounder not a scorer...then this year there one inside threat hits the asst coach...knocks him down...And betting against them is the best play..but I don't learn and probably never will...McGill at the point is one of the best gds in the country...I have seen him for 4 years and he has a great assist turnover- one of the best in the country...Iona fundamentals are so bad...taking shots with no one under the basket, bad passes, etc,,defense never ever has weak side help...they win because there players are so much better then the other MAAC players...and they win the MAAC and go dancing ..but look at last yrs MACC tourney...Peter who doesn't have one player that could start for Iona almost beats them 65-63..Because Peter has a good coach in Dunn and knows how to take away Iona's free lance offense...
I want to take that oath with you...but then I get thick headed and think just maybe they play a little defense tonight and win and cover...its the perfect example of talent is over rated...its all in the coaching..and preparing...when you look at the many successful teams out there most of them have good coaches...No Cluess has survived because he can flat out recruit esp in the NY-NJ Metro area...
I'll think about that oath next time ..lets see they have Rider coming to them on Friday...now Rider has the worst coach in Baggett but he also has some talent.. I give and take points when I capp on the coaches... those are the worst 2 in the MACC...but tonite Marist is playing and they have one of the best but he is a newbie with his players...he needs a few years to recruit the type of player he wants...thanks for posting the ATS record...a lot of those 125 losses I'm sure were mine..take care good luck Like my Foxes -1 tonight vs Manhattan

In the power 5 conference, they all can pretty much coach. That is how they got there. In the smaller conferences coaching takes on much more importance in handicapping. If you ever have a chance to throw out some coaches in the smaller conference who merit extra consideration and those who dont, I would look forward to hearing your thoughts. I bet mostly the smaller conferences, MAAC, Sun, Hoizon, Summit so I dont get to see them on tv as much ( much better now with espn extra!)
