This morning I realized that today I was at 6,999 in posting here....became a member in Feb 2000...had to sit back and think where was I and my family 16 years ago....I had just left my HS after teaching and coaching there for 23 years.....took an administration position at another school....hated leaving coaching but this was a big opportunity and the money was almost close to double....my oldest daughter is a soph at Univ of Texas....my middle daughter is a 16 yr old soph and of course a soccer, basketball and track star in HS....my son is in 8th grade and learning something called computers..ahead of his time.....and my youngest daughter is in 5th grade.....wow....update..oldest is in her 15th yr teaching ele school in Austin,,has one daughter who is 7....middle daughter teaches in Philly and just had a baby in August,my son is a computer engineer here in Austin and makes more money then my whole family combined...and my youngest daughter has worked at Disney in Orlando the past 5 years and recently became a head concierge at the biggest hotels there...all through this my wife was a neonatal nurse for 29 years and has been a snowbird for the past 3 winters between NY and Austin.....and me.....retired after 34 years....came back out of the bullpen and did 2 more years as a principal...retired again...came back to another school and did 2 more years...retired again and spent the winter in Austin..but came out a 3rd time and just finished up 2 more years...now retired for good....nicknamed the "Mariano Riveria of HS Administrators".... my other nickname was " the Vince Lombardi-Mother Theresa " of HS principals....that one was right on....I was tough but loved those kids.....that is why these schools kept calling me....was offered another 2 positions this Jan to June but said no thank you...

I wrote IE and MJ today to see if they could find my 1st post....what the hell did I say....I'll bet it was about Marist basketball or North Texas.....my spelling and grammar hasn't changed....sorry for the 16 yrs of that.....still can't get there and their right......

Do appreciate all the many, many kudo's and props here over the years....met about 6 or 7 real MJ people here....never went to one of those Super Bowl parties in Vegas....but its on my bucket list.....feel like I know so many of you...miss the many that were here...i know a few passed away but many just faded away.....awhile back someone posted all the names of people that posted here...and are gone..it blew me away....but I loved and respected so many of you......When I did the Guardian Angel for Herb Larkin here it was unreal.....and the Michael Madden,a boy at my school in a coma in a car accident after football practice....both have passed away but your generosity to this day is still appreciated by there families.....I never met Madjack in person or IE....but I do thank you for allowing me a place to have fun and escape....this place is like a private fraternity where we all share, maybe make some money or cry...did anyone see the end of the Seton Hall game last nite....damn....

I know I tell long and boring ass stores but I have one today..it was already told here probably between post number 2,000 to 3,000.....
I only tell it because its a Dec 7th story...
It was Dec 7th before a home game in my gym...I am playing JBHS a catholic power house later that nite....it was around 4,00pm and the middle school practice team was just finishing up....our janitor Yazhu has to mop the floor before the game[ Yaz is polish decent ,navy veteran, with tattoos all over his arm see's Michael a black kid and our star of the team walking past him in the hallway leaving the gym...Yaz sees Micheal and says " hey,do you know what today its Dec 7th..the day the japs came down and hit us hard, flattened us,blew us away "..... Micheal looked up at him and said" when we get these guys on our court we'll do the same and walked away....Yaz was screaming in the hallways these kids learn nothing at this school....you see Michael thought the Japs were just another basketball team playing my team.....every Dec 7th beside thinking about WW2 I think of Micheal and the Japs....
Again not sure if I can make another 16 years..had a heart stent put in last dec..play racquetball everyday and stay in shape....put in for social security last month.....and hope Creighton covers the -4 over Nebraska tonite....thanks again for allowing me here...

Box you're a inspiration to all of us here. A man who is blessed in life and surrounded by loved ones. I admire you for all you have given back in your life. I'm sure your children & wife wake up everyday knowing how blessed they are to have you. Not many people on this forum have opened up personally like you have and it just makes you real. I appreciate not only your time and the posted plays but I truly enjoy and take to heart your stories. You're one hell of man and one day I would be honored to shake your hand.

As a rookie, I latched on this sight a few years ago and Box was one of the first (and best) wizards I found. I felt an attachment because he was a principal as was my wife. And I enjoyed his stories and adventures of school. I passed many on to my wife. She threatened to retire but they wouldn't let her and finally made her superintendent this year. We have a daughter still in high school so she wanted to stay til that one graduates.

Enough babble. I simply want to thank you for your insight, humor and compassion for the many you have touched. You remind me of my closest friend who died in June. The church could not hold the friends and fans. He and YOU are special to oh so many. :0074

Thank you guys for all the nice comments....that means a lot... old school...those pictures of my house..how the hell did you dig those up....I remember putting a phillie hat over my face since at the time I was a principal....not that there was anything illegal....but if I caught some kids in the bathroom at school playing craps with dice I would of suspended them.....didn't want some parent saying its ok for him to promote and advise on gambling but not my kid.....and I would of probably would of given the kids in school suspension or a few detentions....

Again thank you all for saying such nice things..am starting on post 8,000...just 998 to go.....
