"the bunker"
i was looking at the povetkin/chambers set to and i was thinking....

i keep hearing how good povetkin is....how chambers has never faced such a quick, strong guy....on his home turf....

i took chambers small at 5-1....didn`t have to play much to get some return....

but, what if fighting overseas in a hostile environment is to much for chambers?...maybe povetkin`s overwhelming workrate just overcomes chambers at some point?....maybe the venue gets to chambers?...maybe we get a calzaghe/manfredo type premature stoppage?...
chambers is carrying a few extra pounds to boot...

the greek has povetkin by ko/tko.dq at nearly +250.......that`s pretty generous...

i mean,wtf....even if i lose both ways,it`s not a big deal....

and what if chambers cuts povetkin?....

i know i`m straying into twilight zone territory, but, things have been going well so far this year...

wtf...

i`m really anxious to see povetkin....i hope he`s as good as advertised...

Box,
check out the book where you placed the wager. I read that this was supposed to be a 12 rder. If the book had it down for 12 rds then you will get your wager returned. All over/under wagers are OFF if the rounds are reduced. It doesn't apply if the rounds are increased. Good luck.

I didn't post it here but I played Estrada @ very wide odds -950. I know it appears to be crazy but I read the records over and over and I just couldn't see Shuford possibly winning. He had lost something like 6 of 8 and estrada came in in pretty good shape.

I'm considering the over on Pov @-250.

I like that over myself Romi, more after watching some footage of Byrd-Povetkin.

well, that was a disaster..friday is my night to howl, and i overdid last night...

this panel(written last night) is a rambling mess...but i`ll leave it up for posterity...lol....this is almost as bizarre as the thread i started last night in the general forum entitled,"cats that look like hitler"....beyond bizarre..

soooo..as it stands i have 2 very small wagers ...chambers+500(done sober and with actual rationale) and povetkin by ko,tko,dq at around +235 or +240(i have to go back and check...as i said i was schnockered)...

an over/povetkin parlay would be the best way to go for cheapskates like myself...but,obviously 5 dimes isn`t stupid and pars on different props in the same fight are verboten....

g.l . to all...

I took the over on Pov/Chambers...waited a bit too long and didnt get the better odds but I still believe it's a decnt bet. Didnt wager the farm but almost 11 hund to win 4. These are 2 top quality hvys and I don't believe either has been remotely close to being hurt. I expect a better fight than the odds are showing. I like Pov here but -700 is too wide. I think Chambers will make a fight of it but lose the dec. Good luck everybody.

well said...i do think that there are still questions to be answered about these 2 upper echelon young heavies,though...

and i still wonder why chambers` people took this fight?..i know it`s an eliminator..i`m sure it`s a decent payday....still,the disadvantage of fighting in germany when your guy that has a very small chance of winning by taking it out of the judges hands sort of baffles me....

in vegas,or at a neutral,i wonder what these odds would look like?...povetkin would still be the fave...but,nothing like 7-1...

at 25 years old, this decision to take chambers to germany surprises me...and baffles me a bit...

i guess its all about "pay me now"....sort of short sighted,imo....the guy has talent...that first loss can sometimes ruin a guy...particularly a bad loss...

Hard to say what his people are thinking. Perhaps they truly believe their guy can win. IMO, I think it's a win win for Chambers. If he just keeps it competitive over the course then he comes out of this looking pretty good and remaining a top contender, not to mention he's on HBO. He can always say Pov got the hometown dec and save face.

I think we got a little break on the over/under w/the 9 1/2 rds. If I were capping for the books I would have made it 11 1/2. Those 2 extra rds could potentially come into play. Chambers stood up to Brocks best and Brock can punch a little. Not sure if Pov hits any harder than Brock. I could envision Pov getting a late accumulation tko but I think we are safe through 10.

That's why for fun I put a token wager on Povetking TKO/KO 12 at +1800. Chambers does have a good chin though.. Good luck.

Future bouts- Valuev more or less- sucks. Anything over +200 for Liahovich is worth a shot IMO. I tihnk Sergey has gotten thru some injureis and mistakes and may put it together for this one.

Congrats to all the Pov/Chambers over backers! Thought that was fairly easy money. It was a good week ending a VERY good January. I went 2-0 on the week...didn't make a huge bundle but the weekly avg is adding up.

congrats to over bettors......

i`ll be curious to see how this affects chambers....from what nightwatch and some guys on other boards indicated, chambers, though talented, was exposed as a lazy fighter....

and povetkin apparently, wasn`t all that impressive....

fairly divergent scoring...apparently,some strange ebb and flow..

Hey Box what was the name of the one heavyweight who was on Friday night fights about six months ago and was dominating the other guy and he would look out in the crowd and even talk to them, when he was fighting? Do you remember who i am talking about? The fight went the distance and the Heavyweight everytime he would talk to the crowd the other guy would drill him. He had some talent tho and the bout this night was never in question.

I'm pretty sure you are talking about Kevin Johnson. I bet quite a bit of dough on Johnson for the Wills fight. He won it handily but i don't think the guy is going anywhere. He couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper sack. If/when he steps it up, he will be beaten.

Thanks Romi. Maybe at least he would come to fight someone because this Chambers kid made me sic to my stomach. To torture myself and watch Roy Jones again (watch the fight for a second time tonight and i thought it was a good fight) who fights almost like this Chambers kid. Both refusing to throw punches. Maybe this Chambers kid could get down to a 40 waist and then he will have the energy to throw some punches. 25 years old with his talent he should look like an MMA fighter and not sloppy like this. He wasn't in bad shape but at this age he could be in a lot better shape. Man i hate watching fighters like this just not throwing punches. I thought just maybe it was a ploy to see the German gas but this kid just didn't want to fight.

Thanks for the kind words, and yes my posted plays are off to a slow start. However, after playing the Under at +125...the Over moved to +125. Needless to say I took the free money. Never pass up free money when the books are giving it out.
