As of now, I am leaning toward Soto. I realize Guzman is world class. Soto has had some rocky moments, but he has been steadily improving. He is not the proverbial "opponent" in this one. He is dangerous and will come to fight. This I think will be a blast. No warm fuzzies here. I've seen Soto fight club stuff here in Vegas at the Orleans. Real exciting and tough as nails. I think the +160 is OK.

I like Guzman by comfortable decision, Mayweather sr should be improving his defense. I see Guzman being slick and sweeping the early rounds, then being conservative the 2nd half for an 8-4 type fight.

Soto has a good chin and wont get discouraged, if Guz runs out of gas late Soto can stop him. Guz should be in great shape though, winning this on national TV can set up a mega fight with Pac/Marq winner. I'll try and look into their camps.

If I don?t find a good Guz dec Ill take a small bet on Soto. Can anyone recommend a book with props on this fight? I cant get Bodog in Canada.

"Little Tyson" is a misleading nickname, his last 6 fights have went the distance, he only has 17 kos in 27 fights

I agree that if you're taking Guzman it should be by decision at much better odds, he won't stop the tough Mexican

Still thinking on this one...and waiting for props to surface

i saw Soto only against bobby Pac. And he was rocked in that fight.
I have watched some clips of Guzman and this guy is fast i mean really fast. If someone toys around with Barrios the way he did it should tell something because Barrios is nobody to toy around with.
If you go with boxrec this was a close fight but almost anybody i talked about said Guzman won around 8 to 4 rounds. competitive but not close.
Frankie i am on the other side on this one. I took Guzman at -120 and i like that bet alot. As usual i am waiting on my man if he picks soto i will hedge with soto Ko.

i said in another thread,my heart says soto, but my head says guzman.....

i really would prefer to see soto/marquez or soto/pac.......i really think these are a little more intriguing....

but,you have an excellent boxer/puncher match-up....an elite fight....really a fight that deserves to be on ppv.....

soto`s hot as a pistol..but guzman is ohh so slick....and if you`re careless,he can hurt you(even though his power seems to diminish a bit as he steps up in weight...understandably)...

soto seems to be naturally a bit the bigger guy.....

so the guzman by decision/soto inside the distance props make sense.....

somehow, for just that reason,i suspect we won`t see many props on this fight...

One more reason I lean toward Soto is the long layoff for Guzman. I don't care why he hasn't fought (all the politics bullshit), just that he hasn't. Soto, even though he fought a couple of meatballs, he was active in 2007. Well, it looks like I am sitting out on a ledge by myself on this one.

I posted last night but it didnt go through. I essentially echoed your statements. He dominated B Pac but he did get rocked in that one. Guzman has excellent skills and is a potential p4p fighter. Barios is one tough strong hombre and I think it's a pretty good notch on his belt to have gotten through that one. I took this for -170. The line widened for awhile but now it's back down to -160. There are alot of Soto backers. Soto is certainly tough as nails as Franks suggested but I don't really think he's a special fighter. Had Juarez won the last rd, he wins the fight (although Soto clearly won, Rock kept it close). I don't think much of Juarez as a top fighter. If he doesn't hurt his hands, I like Guzman by dec. I don't have alot on this as Soto is a very live dog. Should be a good fight. GL

that ledge ain`t all that slim,my friend....i`m still thinking on this one....soto`s been a beast for the last several years...imo,as exciting a fighter of late, this side of pacquaio...

after last weekend, changing plays in mid-stream and all, pray that i take guzman...

thinking about changing my moniker fron gardenweasel to "jonah"....:SIB

My last word on this and then I'll just listen(maybe). I love a hungary guy who ain't afraid to mix it up and can take some heat. True, Soto may not be a "special" fighter, but I only need him to be the better fighter this time out. May the best man win. I just believe way deep down Soto gives it 110% this time. Not that Guzman won't go all out. I just think Soto is a snarling, hungary junk yard dog.
Hungry. I ain't even sure that's how to spell it!

I'm on Humberto Soto. Nice odds on such a good fighter. He has been soaring since his lost to Kevin kelly many years ago. In his last 15 bouts, He beat up Solis although it was a No Contest and defeated Juarez who is a tough guy. He has stoppped every other fighter over that span.

I think he draws Guzman into a brawl where he should be able to land hard shots as Jorge Barrios did.

From a fans perspective this is a great fight to watch. I'd like to see the winner fight Edwin Valero in a unification bout. If you havent seen Valero yet check him out. He has unorthodox power and no defense. 22-0(22KO's) He'll probably get blasted sooner or later but is a joy to watch.

+160 is good for Soto, I wish I took that when I saw it. Im starting to think Soto might have a shot at a decision, Mayweather Sr didnt sound too enthusiastic about Guz's weight and stamina. It becomes a question of whether Guz can avoid the KO if hes exhausted. A draw is possible.

Tough fight to call. I would try and take both Guz dec and Soto straight, I dont like the lines though.

edit - lay 25 to win 27.5 guz dec, and lay 10 to win 39.5 soto ko.

Does laying 2 props on the same fight at the same book get you flagged?

my prediction is guzman by decision........with a hedge on soto inside....

i`m a tad worried that soto will be easy for guzman to reach.....but,soto`s very resilient....

no cuts, please(appears to be no pattern of cut issues for either guy)..

good news no you dont get flagged.
the bad news is you can lose 35 bucks easy but in the best case you win 17.5 bucks.
Soto via dec is a real possibility. I did this kind of hedging alot but in this case its not worth the risk-

I heard Guzman went out and bought some Naval Jelly to remove layers of rust. The Hungarian wins!

I make my own. Tonite, cheese pizza with marinated breast of chicken strips, mushrooms, and possibly something else if I can figure that out. Gonna eat pizza and watch Soto get a W.

thanks for the advice, this is only my 3rd bet ever. i took a parlay for dimi and soto by dec, 2 for 10, as a small hedge. it's been too complicated and time-consuming, i regret not taking soto+160 and leaving it alone.

how would you approach a fight with probabilities and lines like tonight's, in terms of betting strategy?

edit - another lessons learned. i didnt know pinnacle puts their props up late, they now have MUCH better lines than i took. wonderful.
