woods/johnson

woods/johnson

going the distance looks like money.....hate the price(-300).....but,to be honest,it`s really very fair considering what your getting.....johnson`s going nowhere....unless there`s a headbutt...

looking at woods` record i saw that he fought yawe davis in 2001.....yawe davis?? ......he was fighting in the early 80`s....
he was around when the beatles became known........the lifeform...not the group....;)..... but,i digress....

kiwanuka was a middleweight semi-contender about 7-8 years ago....he was a puncher...tall...i`m a little worried about his inactivity.....sort of had a semi-retirement.....a little leary there,although 5.5 isn`t much to ask...

also see winky and hernandez going the distance barring a headbutt....a little concerned about the lefty/righty aspect of this match-up as far as the heads go.....but,barring a tough break,i think you should get there....

nice card....looking at roy/tarver?........g.l.

Hey Box, quick question for you--do you see Jirov losing tonite to Joseph? Dont have the juevos to take him straight up, but was wanting to parlay him with Henin in Tennis tonite, and wanted to know your thoughts on who should win this boxing.......thanks

I am laying 50 bucks on the Jones fight but there is
no chance of getting a return. I think Floyd and Roy
are in a class of their own and when motivated can't
be beat. But after the Michoweveryouspellit upset I am
on board with you on not laying heavy wood, my new
limit is -400. However guys like UT-L could cash in big.
I think the total is a crap shoot but would lean towards
the under 8.5 -105.

I hate headbutts!!!

This year alone I have lost one 2 unit play and three 1 unit
plays due to headbutts, costing me around 8 units. But to
be fair, 2 of the fights were orthodox. I am well aware of
the danger in playing overs in an unorthodox fight but I
am also aware of the fact that when two natural counter
punchers meet left against right it usually makes for a very
awkward and uneventful fight. I played the Montiel-Johnson
over despite the R-L scenario and won due to a boring fight.
Gainer-Marquez was heading for an easy over when the cut
occured. I can't pass up a good play due to a small chance.

Kiwanuka is moving up in weight and is coming off a decent
layoff but he has only been stopped twice, both to very good
competition and more importantly one was in the 8th round
and one was in the 11th. Jirov has gone over 5.5 in each of
his last 5 fights and is more of a wear you out, accumulation
type of tko artist. That combined with 5.5 rounds and -120
are what pushed into laying a 1/2 unit on the over. Line is
now -160, almost too much wood.

I'm glad we agree on another one this week, (Woods-Johnson)
not sure what our record is but when we agree on something...

I don't see Jirov losing this fight, but then again I didn't
see Michoweveryouspellit losing in Germany to Gonzalez!

I wonder why 5dimes doesn't have a line on this fight?

t was looking at

t was looking at

roy by k.o....at -191.at pinny....

to be honest,if pinny or 5 dimes puts johnson up at around +300,i may throw a few bucks away.....woods `opponents are nothing to write home about and johnson has built a little momentum....he has some impressive wins...

but, england can be every bit as bad as germany and johnson`s fights are more often than not, very close....g.l.

i see a few in the oly futures section that pique my interest....

Great Call on the OVER Box......:)

Vassily Jirov (33-1, 29 KOs) badly beat Joseph Kiwanuka (27-6-2) over 7 punishing rounds on Thursday night to pick up the North American Boxing Organization cruiserweight belt. Jirov methodically took Kiwanua apart with a devastating body attack that had the South African wincing with pain from the force of the blows. The bout was stopped at the beginning of the 7th round by ringside physician Robin McDougal, who after noting the damage to Kiwanuka?s face, informed the referee that the fight should be stopped.

nice job:) and johnson got hosed big time, saw the last 5 rounds man the head butts are getting worse and worse each month and they are not by accident just like the elbow clipping. some heavy fines need to start going out over head butts there have been 18 this year so far stopped due to head butts that were with out a doubt ment to happen i was reading about it last month in ring mag i think it was last month and something needs to be done about it. still loved that last fight the one going on now is not going to make it to long that last left hook as i type was a snot blocker. it made me hurt. but you are right box way to many head buts i prefer to play totals and if it is a big number i look fo the tko,ko,dq price. nice job. i would not cut off at 400 on a side that is a mid range side in boxing up to-450 remember this is not baseball look how may fights are in the 850-1400 range and have more higher then that my cut off is about 5 will go to 550 if i can't get a good price on a tko,ko,or dq that is what i look for on the higher lines never a over if it is a high line should not go over but why take a chance when you can get a price on a ko,tko or dq for the whole fight then a chance at a 7.5 8 under on a fight.

are you saying your book has jones under 8.5 i got un 11 out here -185 and ko,tko,dq-125 and that was last week has not gone up much total came down to 10.5-160 the side has shot up to 700 in most places out here a few 650's around.

well off to bed not feeling to good from the operation yesteration yesterday sick from the meds , will drink some milk and fall asleep on the couch have tickets to fight on sat 8 rows back but stuck behind a corner, don't think i will be making it just going to sell them for a nice price to my ticket broker and watch it here.

very nice job. and i stand behind the article about they need to start putting out some heavy fines for these head butts.

Oly
Jones -1000
Jones ko -300
under 9.5 -170

Pinny
Jones -765
Jones ko -192
under 9.5 -142

5dimes (my favorite)
Jones -850
Jones inside distance -175
under 8.5 -105

It would be very hard for me to pass up Jones at -650.

Take care

Jones should have another walk through...however, I think I'd be more comfortable if this weren't his first fight back at light heavyweight. He dropped about 20 pounds or so, and a lot of that was muscle....he could experience some fatigue if this goes to the later rounds. Gonna pass on this one.

Guys,

I have to disagree with you regarding the Woods-Johnson fight. Dont think this was a hometown decision, paticularly as two of the three judges was American, who are supposed to favour the more aggressive boxer, who in this fight was certainly Johnson.

However, Johnson was hammered in that last round, and I am not too sure that was a slip and not a knockdown. And he should have been deducted at least a point for swinging his head throughout the fight, which caused the only obvious damage to Woods face.

I think as far as fights go, this one was as close to a draw as you can get.

Fair decision in my book.

Gardenweasel,

My point being that yes, Johnson had claims to win the fight, but so did Woods. As far as drawn decisions go, I think this was one of the least controversial I have seen.
