Not exactly sure but I read that we got screwed by a cut in a fight that Lopez was winning. Lopez wanted to continue but they stopped it anyway

Another bad beat to finish the year...oh well

Sorry to see that Box. I didn't see it but reading a descript on boxrec...a butt was involved and one guy said they are reviewing for a possible dec change...not too likely after the fact.

Sorry Box but that cut was caused by a punch. Matsuda had only won one round when it was stopped.
The cut started to get worse due to head clashes.

I don't think Lopez helped his cause any when he sucker punched Matsuda while he was celebrating.

I'm not arguing that the cut was caused by a punch, I'm just saying that Lopez probably would've won the fight had the cut not stopped the fight.

Good capping...bad result

There is no probably about it. Lopez would have won the fight. I feel bad for anyone losing money on this fight.

The cut was nowhere near as bad as Katsidis and Lopez was beating Matsuda at both boxing and when they brawled.
Lopez sure wanted the fight to continue. I guess that is why he gave Matsuda a congratulatory punch to the back of the noggin while Matsuda was celebrating.

the bout is ruled a no contest. I had Lopez inside at 290 plus. The fight was pretty even if you ask me also lopez had more skills a nd reach he fought scared and Matsuda was still alive and kicking.
Lopez was slightly ahead on two scorecards.
this writer had Matsuda ahead and is my source for the no contest :

Too bad it took a day and a half for the ruling. As it stands, for betting purposes, the result remains the same.

I tend to agree with Marley's(boxingconfidential) take of the fight. Lopez had his moments , occasionally getting Matsuda to the ropes, but Matsuda always looked dangerous and always seemed one punch away from really hurting the slow looping Lopez. That was a wicked punch that caused the cut. I saw the so-called head butt and it was nothing intentional- they were just going at it on the ropes. In this case Lawrence cole was right and the controversial fat WBC dude Sulaimans had no business interfering. Matsuda is the one getting screwed here if they change the ruling. When a bad cut is caused from a punch, the puncher wins. Who the F is to say the cut wasn't worsening from other punches.
