I would like to hear your opinion on the Valuev Holyfield fight...

Valuev hasnt shown much punching power lately...I could see this fight going some rounds...

It's all a question of whether you trust the almost 47 year old Holyfield....and I do

we know Valuev ain't getting KO'ed...it just depends on the Real Deal

Evander we'll always give it his best...he has too much pride to go out a quitter...one of the biggest hearts ever

he won't come close to winning (I believe), but I think this fight will coast over

Valuev only knocks out guys like Beck and Barrett....this one will be a clinch fest....jab and hold....jab and hold

there is always a chance, though, that he just has nothing left and they stop the fight at the midway point...my money says it goes the distance...

MEDIUM on OVER 9.5 for me

Tough call Zerwas. I lean towards a dec but at the same time Holy is 46, has been in countless wars and I can't imaging anybody in Germany allowing him to take any sustained punishment AT ALL. The WBA as well as the promotion has taken a lot of flak for allowing this farce to take place. If Holy gets in any kind of trouble I think they pretty much HAVE to stop it. I think Holy will have to make the rds remotely competitive. I can see the ref and or/corner saying enough if he shows no chance of winning. Personally, I give Holy NO chance to win in this fight. It would have to go down as one of the bigger upsets of all time if he pulled it off.

I see Valuev as a safest bet this weekend. In my books best odds are 1.18 and I put a lot on it.

I have feeling bout will go full route. Valuev never pushes for KO and I believe he respects RealDeal as a legend. I see 12 rds of jabs plus occasional right hand. Holly will try at the start but when he realizes he got no chance he will be satisfied to go full route in defeat (like in Ibragimov fight).

Having said that, I am surprised how good odds are for over 9.5 1.75 and Valuev on points 2.5. I'm definitely putting something on that.

Good luck!

So far I have about half a unit on the over split in different small bets (over 7, 8 and 9) all offered by bwin.

I'm contemplating to take Valuev to win by decision at +188.

I'm just not really sold on it...

Nothing major this week IMO, I tend to bet anyway and usually end up with some bad bets that I wouldnt have taken in a busy week....

Well, I see there is some suport for the over so why not...

BTW, how did he look against Iggy!?

Winning 3 rounds in Russia on two cards looks pretty decent IMO...and Iggy is all wrong for him with his movement...

Valuev will be right in front of him...believe it or not, I see Holyfield as the bigger puncher in this fight...and I think he will be able to get through with some heavy hooks...Valuev has been content to jab his way to victory recently...Holyfields inactivity is a concern, as well as -obviously- his age...

Valuev is not great...maybe holy will manage to win a few rounds...I'm actually tempted to throw some money on a draw or the fight to end in a MD /SD...but thats probably a little far fetched....

I guess I'm just a sucker for high odds... ;-)

Holy's record against big men isn't good; and god knows what he has left at 46.

thought I would post weekend thoughts here

heads up for those interested in Italy tomorrow:

Paolo Vidoz 238 vs Matt Skelton 250.2
(European Heavyweight Championship)
Gianluca Branco 138.6 vs Juho Tolppola 138.4(European super lightweight championship)

that's a good weight for Vidoz....12 pnds lower than the last fight....Skelton about on average....

Live webcast Friday at http://boxenowwbc.twww.tv beginning at 8PM ET/2PM ET/11AM PT

Nice!! :)

Vidoz really seems to have trained for this fight.

Vidoz IMO is a pretty decent boxer with good skills but he's not exactly what you would call a gym rat....Skelton is pretty much the opposite... ;-)

The hometown advantage will IMO be a huge factor in this fight...Skelton will not only lose the close rounds but probably wont be allowed to use his rough house tactics the way he wants...

Skelton is a few years older than Vidoz and hasnt fougt in nearly a year....

hmm...I think thats enough for me for a small play on Vidoz...still waiting for pinny, 5dimes and bodog to drop some lines...

BTW, Evan is on the over for the valuev fight as well...

I added half a unit on Valuev by decision @+196 (betfair)....

It's a little gamble but why not...

Apparently there are some people who really believe Holyfield has a shot...the line on him is dropping...

I took the +900 on the fight to end in a MD / SD and a small amount on a draw @+7000 (betfair)just for the sake of it....

Hopefully that Holyfield money comes pooring in !

:mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

I was going to leave the Vidoz fight alone, but his weight and the location have convinced me to go SMALL on him

the last fight in Italy Giacobbe Fragomeni got CRAZY home treatment against Kraj....

SMALL on the Italian heavyweight...I think he wins a decision

I'm following with a small play on Vidoz (1.75), large on Branco (1.1) and small Branco over 9.5 (1.3).

I also took medium play on Lauri (1.33) on the undercard. He's much more experienced and never lost in Italy on points. Piispanen fought only 3 guys with positive record, has only 4 KO in 12 fights and has a draw over 6 rounds against fighter with 1-5 record last year in Finland. Also played small under here (4.61).

I'm staying away from the Branco fight due to the high odds-low value

but I TOTALLY agree with you on the Lauri fight

MEDIUM on Lauri (he won't lose)

SMALL on the under (opponent has fought NOBODY)

SMALL on Vidoz

SMALL parlay Vidoz over 8.5 to Lauri under 9.5

you know who else seems like a good bet?....that chick Pantani in Italy....at -200 in her hometown....

i bet the local tailor....the local baker....and the local police chief will be filling out the scorecards for her

:mj07:

good luck everyone....this is worth a shot

starts in about 90 minutes NJ

5dimes took it down already

I really hate that

they only posted the line this morning and it was up for literally 45 minutes

how is that fair to players?

Thanks. Pinnacle put up many lines last night, I don't remember if Lauri was one of them. Bet365 surprisingly doesn't have Lauri, they typically have all Euro fights.

Hearing the recent comments on 5D, I don't miss it as much. They're the best for outcome props on smaller fights.

Good luck with the chick fight. Hometown advantage should win it, but I'd kick myself if I played on that alone and lost.

A packed weekend, but no big events to bet on. It's pathetic when you're looking for value in Holyfield/Valuev props.

I saw Lauri this morning -270 and was reseaching both fighters...I probably would have taken the bet but it's pulled everywhere. I saw it move to -350.

The argentinian chick looks live to me as well and even considered that @+200 but that has been pulled as well. The cutoff time wasn't until 11 pst but they been pulled from all sites.

5dimes REALLY dropped the ball today. Late as fuck with the lines. I also got a rep that was extremely slow with giving me the info to send a Western Union (he may have been looking up porn or IM'ing someone). Luckily when I called back I got the Latina chick (Lucy?) and she was very quick and helpful with the info.

That said, they are still a 5-star book and I will continue to use them exclusively. I was rather disappointed today but like someone mentioned earlier- maybe it was the holidays?

Graham has alluded to british fighers having a very difficult time winning decs in italy. I think he's on to something. I tended to agree w/evan who tipped skelton. I like his agression BUT vidoz came in in great shape and if he stays on his feet and the rds are somewhat close, he'll certainly get the nod on his home turf. I'm considering a play -160 on vidoz now.

Ok, I'm on board for vidoz to win 3 buck. Jab the sht out of this guy and don't let him maul you. I think we'll get some breaks from the ref here. Good luck to the Lauri backers...i was too late.

I agree COMPLETELY Eddie

atrocious service today....first time I've been this disappointed in them

What is the point of listing a fight for literally 45 minutes?

at least the night before guys....come on!

Very aggravating stuff....

Alright... some of us disagree on the chick fight

but we are on Lauri....let's go Lauri !
