+270 is my logic for putting a SMALL wager on Sanchez. Oly opened it at +160 and I was tempted to hit it then, so when the line peaked I took it. Right now he's around +250.

Guzman is 3 inches taller, 7 years younger, and has plenty of power. But he only has 20 professional fights, and only 5 of those were against descent competition. He hasn't fought anyone in the top class of his division, let alone a crafty sometimes dirty southpaw with power who was once a champion and has a ton of experience against the best fighters in the world.

And don't forget they are fighting for the title that was stripped from Sanchez two years ago when he was diagnosed with cataracts. Something tells me that pisses him off a little and will add to his motivation, from what I've heard he's in excellent shape.

Sanchez stopped Oscar Larios who is definitly one of the best in
the division, and won a unanimous decision over Javier Jauregui.
He fought to a 6 round technical draw with Manny Paquiao and had 2 points deducted for low blows. Without the point deductions he would have won a split decision with one judge having him up by 4 rounds. And don't worry about Sanchez chin, he has only been stopped once (Cesar Soto) and has gone the distance with big punchers like Barrera and Marquez.

This should be a very close fight if Sanchez can keep it clean and not get critical points taken away. Guzman's lack of experience against top competition combined with Sanchez being an awkward southpaw with power and a load of experience made the +270 too good to pass up.

i believe

the soto stoppage was a cut....possibly a butt that wasn`t called a butt...i noticed that when guzman came to the states to fight twice,he was pushed to decisions both times...

but,the 2 year layoff is worrisome...

liked nate campbell at -150........also, in combination with recently hot verno phillips(-275) and johnny tapia vs slow as molasses frankie archuletta in new mexico...a nice 3 way play..not a slam dunk, but it brings down the odds on the last 2...

True about Guzman's fight's on Showbox going to deceision but he beat the crap out of both of his opponents. Sanchez better hope his dirty tactics throw Guzman off because I feel Guzman is the better all around fight. Sanchez is more experienced but Guzman seems to hit harder and is faster. The layoff can't help Sanchez either.

guzman

guzman

was way to strong for sanchez....2 year layoffs are hard to come back from....particularly when your first fight back is a championship vs a k.o. artist....

i got the feeling that guzman beats sanchez pretty easily under any circumstances....

guzman looked strong for a jr. feather...

but, can`t say it was a bad move by b.l. taking sanchez for a half unit shot...the odds were substantial.......

I will take a small shot at any live dog that comes along, and I'm sure each time someone will come into my thread telling me why the favorite will win. Trust me, I know why the favorite is the favorite, I don't need anyone telling me why they should win, its obvious.

Styles make fights and thats why sometimes the better all around fighter loses. Before the Forrest-Mayorga fights, most boxing experts said Forrest was the all around better fighter and should win easily. Even after those fights most people agree that Forrest is the better fighter but look who won.

Most people thought Mosely was the all around better fighter going into his fights with Forrest, even after Forrest beat Mosely twice most people would say Mosely is the all around better fighter. Styles make fights and thats why upsets happen in boxing all the time.

Btw, Was I the only one to realize that Sanchez fought from a orthodox stance. One of my reasons for putting a small wager on him was the fact that Guzman hasn't fought a descent lefty in his pro career, then Sanchez comes out orthodox. Why didn't he switch back to southpaw?

Sorry for going off on you a little. I added a few things to my reply above, I hope I explained myself clearly. I just think when someone posts an underdog play there is no need to tell them why the favorite will probably win, its obvious.

For what its worth, I liked both sides as well. Sanchez at more than 2-1 comeback had to be played on value alone. Unfortunately we learnd the hard way that Guzman is for real.
