So far first thing I don't like about Rubio's chances is the following press release:
WBC president Jose Sulaiman reported that he has received the letter from the representatives of boxer Marco Antonio ?Veneno? Rubio, Osvaldo and Reginald Kuchle, which requested the change to an international referee, but that the WBC has full confidence in Mexican referee Guadalupe Garcia, who has been ratified to work Saturday?s middleweight world title bout between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Rubio. ?The appointment of Lupe Garcia was in agreement with Dick Cole, head of the Commission of Texas. And it was a great achievement that referees from other countries are accepted to work in WBC title bouts in Texas. It?s a great opportunity we have awaited for years and it?s great news that we will not reject,? stated Sulaiman. ?The WBC gives a vote of confidence to Lupe Garcia who will be our representative and we are confident that everything will be OK.?
I say this because when a guy is already crying about something, seems he already found an excuse to lose. Yea, I have seen refs shade a fight towards one guy or the other, but if Rubio, as he stated already, is going to KO Chavez, why worry? Not good.

I have a hard on for baby Chavez because of the Zbik robbery. Have to say I really want to see him in tough and get hammered because of that scandal. Doubt this is it though. This kid has traveled the most carefully planned, well paved road I have ever seen. Now, if he were fighting Sergio Martinez, that would be something.

I think you have to consider Rubio (whom I admittedly like as a fighter) here

You look at JCC's last few fights

Manfredo - obviously just there for a payday; embrassment

Zbik - many people think he lost that fight

Billy Lyell, John Duddy, Matt Vanda (2)

I would probably make Rubio -200 versus Zbik and -500/600 versus Lydell and Duddy

Rubio just gave Matt Vanda the beating of a lifetime

Point here is this is a major league step up for JCC, whom nobody thinks is a world beater

Even when Rubio got dominated by Pavlik 3 years back; he gave an honest effort and was there to win.

I think that if you nibbled at the opener of +350 that you are in decent shape.

I'll go back to what I consider something mind boggling! You might be able to see a youtube video if you haven't already seen it. Chavez Jr. gets on the scale before the Zbik fight and is 1.5 over. He actually SNARLS at the scale. Then amazingly he gets RIGHT back on and the "official" calls him spot on at 160!!! This kid needs a good ass whipping. His daddy just is not going to let him lose/get beat up.
