From fightnews...

"I'm going to get him on Saturday. I didn't forget about Cancun, I never forget," Toney (69-4-2, 43 KO's) told the media in reference to his brawl with Rahman in a Mexico hotel at a WBC event a few months back. "It doesn't matter how much I weigh - James Toney can fight," explained Toney who will likely enter the ring in the 250-lb. range.

If Toney weighs anywhere near 250 I'll double or triple my wager on Rahman

"the bunker"
thought i had an easy one here...

i don`t like that weight.....i was liking james.....until reading that he may come into the ring saturday night looking like "jabba the kennedy".......

just get in shape...damn man!......

holifield and ruiz made rahman look like a fool...they practically shut him out....and toney gave them both boxing lessons...

i saw a shot old al cole totally befuddle rahman down at michaels in glen burnie....

and now, toney comes in looking like" jabba the kennedy"....(btw...is kennedy still on his first liver?)...

i`m a little off topic here...but...

Proud to Be a Kennedy(To the tune of Proud to be an American)....

And I'm pproud to be a Kennedy

Because my drinks are always free

Though I seldom tip the bartender who brings those drinks to me

I'll gladly stand up

then pull my pants down

And repeat this until last call

Then I'll bang the broad sitting next to me

Thanks to my Rophypnol (rufies)

(everybody sing along :talk: :mj08: )...

Rahman 238...good weight for him

Toney 237...highest of his career but only 4 lbs more than his last fight with Guinn

237 is do-able.....

i expect him to sneak those right hands in,regardless of the height advantage....

toney knows how to pace himself...rahman`s stamina has always been a problem....

don`t expect toney to be intimidated ala monte barrett...

Toney could be 300 lbs. and he'd still be hard to hit. It's like the guy is covered in vaseline...very few good shots hit their target. However, if the "I'm ready to fight" Rahman shows up, I think he can outpace Toney to a decision. Good value at 4-1.

i know the old "a" beats "b" and "b" beats "c" means that "a" beats "c".... doesn`t always mean anything...

but, even at 37...toney still has looked very good in his recent fights...he doesn`t take lots of punishment...

the way rock struggled with ruiz and holi....they were to quick and slick....

it just makes me think that toney, slicker than holi and ruiz, should make rahman look slow...

all holi did was punch and step to the side...all ruiz did was punch and clinch.....rahman looked helpless...

honestly...i don`t think i`ve ever seen rahman "outpace" anybody....maybe tua...who can be an inanimate object in fights...and barrett...who appeared to be scared or was drugged for 11 rounds...

imo,rahman`s slow...his arms are so thick...heavy...

the wildcard...imo...is that toney`s never fought anyone quite this strong....

still, holi backed rahman up their whole fight....

handspeed...defense...ring savvy...chin...all toney..

rahman became discouraged vs holi and ruiz...

i don`t think he`s mentally tough.....nobody`s more mentally tough than toney....and his rock`s chin is ????

maybe i`m wrong...maybe toney gets injured again...he fought booker with one arm....

maybe a small hedge on rahman inside the distance...maybe he hits the lottery twice(lewis)....

i like toney..if i crash and burn,i`ll come back and pay my penance....

btw...i`m the little guy...

very good points...it just seems strange to think that a guy who was a middleweight for a good portion of his career, who is only 5'9, and who is pushing 40 years of age, should be a favorite over a legitimate heavyweight. I guess I've always been anoyed by Toney's style to a degree...he seems to pick a nice spot on the ropes in a corner to stand sideways, rope a dope, and counter punch.

Holyfield and Ruiz got the best of Rahman, but they're both 6'2" and Toney is only 5'9"

Toney is the much better fighter, but he's fighting way above his natural weight and now he's obese. I would feel completely different if Toney weighed in at 215 or so but 237 is straight up fat. And its not just the extra weight that bothers me, its the fact that Toney obviously didn't put much time in at the gym. I can understand why he weighed 233 against Guinn, but to come in 4 pounds heavier against a legit heavyweight shows he's not taking this fight seriously at all.

Toney's gut will be so flabby tomarrow they should let him wear a shirt so we don't have to see the rolls. Toney has a great chin but he's been hurt to the body before by much less punchers and Rahman knows that. Toney is extemely elusive with his head, but his body ain't going anywhere and Rahman knows that. Rock has stated in many interviews that he will go after Toney's soft midsection.

It wouldn't surprise me if Toney outboxed Rahman, there's a reason why he's a 2-1 favorite. I just think that given Toney's lack of natural size and lack of sufficient training, combined with his age and the 20 extra pounds, will eventually be too much for his talent to overcome. Might be tomarrow, might not, but I see plenty of value in Rahman at decent + money, with a hedge on Toney by decision. I don't think Toney's in good enough shape to finish off Rahman.

I wonder how many guys would just LIKE to see Toney lose? James just can't stand it if people take a liking to him. Master of the mind game and slick as snot, but as all the dudes have been saying, will Hasim show up and stayed shown up? Maybe I'm a chump but I feel Rahman is motivated very much so here, and will at least give it the old college try. Honestly, I really would like to see the little fat guy get put on his elephant ass. I think getting odds here makes it a consideration. A small play on the "Rock".

Hi BOX. I can't find a line on this fight at any of my books. Kogumazaka-Takayama over 9.5 -320...lay 1.60 to win .50. Who has it? I don't see it at 5 dmes. Thanks.

Good question

I'm not sure what happened at 5dimes, they opened this line last night around 8 cst. I hit the over once, looked at the fight one more time to see if I was missing something, then tried to play it again 10 minutes later but they said the line was no longer valid (even though it was still on the board)

At first I thought they were adjusting the line and it would be back up later at a much higher price, but it never resurfaced.

Sorry

I hope I'm the only one that got screwed

Takayama won by technical decision in the 9th round, fight was stopped due to a cut caused by a f*cking headbutt

Good capping...Bad luck

For those who fancy Rahman, Pinnacle have +505 line for Rahman to win by KO, TKO or DQ - if Rahman is going to win, it will surely be by winning the lottery.

You can also get +136 for Toney by decision.

GL all

EDIT - actually 505......

Somewhere in Corn Country
first, full discloser...

The only wager I had on this hold-fest was the under 11.5 rounds as I thought that one of them would get knocked out...

That being said...

WTF was that decision?

Rahman beat the crap outta that fat tub of chit Toney and two of the three blind mice saw it as a draw? Just one more reason why I really don't give a phuk about boxing anymore, but since the hoops were done for the night and I'm just sitting at home drinking some beer, I'd watch a fight and place a little wager on it so I'd have some rooting interest in it...
