Enzo Maccarinelli has been ordered to a rematch against Shane McPhilbin for the British cruiserweight title.

Controversy surrounded the original fight when the bell to end the first round was sounded 47 seconds early.

Maccarinelli had been knocked down by title holder McPhilbin seconds earlier and was clearly hurt as he stood up.

Timekeeper Martin Fallon has since been suspended until 1 January 2013 by the British Boxing Board of Control, who have ordered a rematch before October.

Maccarinelli was also knocked down in the third round as McPhilbin continued to dominate the early exchanges.

But the 31-year-old former WBO cruiserweight champion recovered to take a unanimous points verdict, giving him his first British title of his career.

McPhilbin's manager, Carl Greaves, called for a rematch shortly after the judges' verdicts were given and the BBBofC have sanctioned the fight following an enquiry into the events of the first round.

Lundy/Williams is an interesting matchup. Lundy has apparently fought the slightly better opposition, but Williams is the puncher so anything can happen, QUICK! I think the over 8.5-145 seems my only option now. Like, but not love Lundy here. No sure just yet.

Hi Frank,

In a straight "who will win" I would go for L. too, but at +255 I had to take a small shot on Williams.

Anyway all small bets, but all value from my point if few.

Agree, however, last week after the FNF were just about over, ESPN made a big deal about Lundy fighting and really made no mention of Williams as if he were just an opponent/warm body? Lets face it, the powers that be sometimes can create reality and if Lundy is the money maker, he might be pre-ordained to take this one. Caveat emptor.

Thats what concerns me!

Lundy's skill or lack thereof doesnt warrant +225 on williams!

Lundy's defence and ring generalship is just not impressive....

Yea, has to make a guy wonder. If a prop shows up, Williams by KO, I may bite. There is just something smelly about this one. Why ESPN creamed their pants over Lundy last week is what makes me leery. However, Di Bella is co-promoting Williams, and Lou DiBella is a hard nose so who knows?

I called 5 Dimes about the 12 round props for a 10 round fight. Happens almost every week. This must be more complicated than it seems.

Williams is a National Golden Gloves champ and his career was sidetracked due to legal woes some time back. The guy has legit skills and KO power. I think he wins

Eddie Gutknecht won a close twelve round split decision over Tony Averlant. Gutknecht dropped Averlant in round one and needed that point to avoid a draw, winning 115-113, 114-113 on two cards. The other card was 115-113.
