any of you guys give Gomez a shot here? I really like the way he fights and i know he is fighting one tuff dude but no way i would ever lay that much jack on Cotto. The over and under is tight. I might take a shot at Gomez. Love the left to the body he throws ala Julio Chavez and one thing i notice with Cotto's fight with Sugar Shane is that he doesn't like to get hit to the body all that much. Upset? I do think Gomez is gonna get a beating but the kid is a warrior and can he give it back?

Nah. I like Gomez, he's game, improved much, but Cotto's fought at such a higher class against guys who can crack. I thought aging ex 140 pounder Tackie was making Gomez uncomfortable in their fight. Doesn't have near the speed of a Judah or Mosley.

I think Gomez is underrated in this fight.
But of course it will be tough for him to win.

He has never been stopped or serioiously hurt, unlike cotto. He's technically sound and will certainly be very motivated for Cotto.

His wins over Brinkley and Manfredo look pretty good, he fought both guys at middleweight and defeated them, although he was the smaller man.

Cotto has fought the better opposition, but I think he's in there for a fight.

I think there is some value in Gomez...

The over might be worth a play too!

Overall, I think Cotto will win a tough decision.

gomez is decent technically..and tough.....but,he tends to stand in a little to much...and with cotto, that might be fatal........

gomez is a gamer,though...if he had a little more power,maybe......

I use to think the same thing about his power and wanted to see him finally fight someone his own size and when he did he beat Gatti from pillar to post. don't say Gatti isn't tough because i saw him beat three guys on that show Pro's vs Joe's. Poor guys. :SIB

I know the Pro's Joe's was a joke, but his own size- Gatti? Not so sure about that. Gatti was champ at 130, 135, 140. By the time Gomez got him, that was one shot 147 pounder. I wouldn't even look at that fight.

Feliciano is a better gage to look at and he's 1-1-1 with the tough but very offensively llimited Feliciano.

Punch i agree Gatti looked much smaller but it seemed like it was the first time i ever saw Gomez fight someone that wasn't a lot bigger then him. I knew when i posted that id pick up some chit for that comment. Rightfully so.
I also wouldn't take the over in this match cause if Cotto is beating him down Gomez starts fading around the eight round. That line is to tight for my liking. I really interested in watching this one to see how it shakes out. Although i think Cotto wins in a brutal fight i think Gomez, after this, gains a lot of respect.
