My loss today on those parlays with Klitschko kinda makes me wonder, and I had an indepth discussion with a buddy of mine, who knows a lot about boxing. He also thinks that some fights are fixed. I guess he heard rumblings that this Klitschko-Sanders fight may be fixed. He told me that Klitschkos brother is also a contender in the heavyweights division, but that they stated they will never fight each other. Boxing wanted one of the brothers to shine above the other, so that the "better brother" could fight Lewis for the title. He said he was skeptical about this particular fight and he thought that boxing may fix the fight so that the other brother could shine and go to be the savior for heavyweight boxing.

What do you guys think?

I think boxing is going the way of WWF wrestling.....or they would if they were smart!

Fights being fixed is certainly a probability. I believe that there is ample and concrete evidence of this on numerous occasions. However, i don't see how getting pounded like this could possibly help Klitchko's career. Many feel he is better than his brother. I had heard him speak before and he said he didn't have a problem fighting his brother. Nothing would surprise me in boxing.

I learned my lesson in boxing earlier this season, a couple month's back Vernon Forrest was a 13-1 fav and got knocked out in the first round, i had him in all my parlay's for that particular night and i havent touched boxing ever since.

I was just as shocked as everyone else, I just watched the fight again and noticed a couple of things. It seemed Klitschko had is right hand pretty low and when Sanders knocked him down he nailed him right on the button after that it was over (his left was his power punch). I don't think it was fixed because all the training in the world cannot prepare for a punch that you have never been hit with before. I think Klitschko was just under prepared, he did not have any sweat on him when he got into the ring and seemed to think he would be able to coast. When I looked @ the odds yesterday it was like Sanders +1400, I tell ya what if I EVER see odds like that again I will throw 20 bucks on it, ya never know what's going to happen.

if anything, that fight would have been fixed FOR klitschko. (if it was gonna be fixed)

boxing is in DIRE need of a top heavyweight, especially with lewis on his way out. that loss yesterday RUINED the heavyweight division temporarily, until the next great thing emerges, or until klitschko gets back on a dominant role.

nothing to be gained for boxing by him losing yesterday. the sport doesnt need upsets like that. it needs dominant, marketable heavyweights

Agreed Gman. The heavyweight division is a joke now with fighters way passed their prime still having legitimate shots at the title.

Wlad is a better fighter than Vitaly(sp?), but I've always thought both were highly overrated.
They both have the fluidity of a robot in the ring.
I will give Wlad this much, he showed some heart getting up, albeit 4 times:D!! Now we'll just have to see if he can come back from this. He was quoted saying Sanders got in a lucky punch and great ones lose a fight from time to time...that's BS, the great ones don't lose fights to scrubs.
Lennox would kill Vitaly(sp?) in a fight no questions asked.

Lennox Lewis has lost two fights to scrubs, and he's a great heavyweight.

gman is absolutely correct. Boxing is corrupt more so than any other sport. Fixing matches is documented several times throughout the sports history. However boxing lost huge marketing & major major $$with the big Russian losing this fight.

He was definitely cold entering the ring, additionally it was obvious this fighter was ill prepared to fight a South Paw fighter. I couldn't believe my eyes, this guy was clueless against the lefty, it looks like he didn't even have sparing experience against South paws. His handlers and promoters were insane for putting him in the ring that ill prepared.

Everyone in boxing was hoping to get a part of this guys money he will generate. Not only his people, but everyone promoting serious heavyweights wanted a piece of this cash cow. Losing didn't help anyone. Except Sanders of course.

Lewis is the only class in the heavyweight division. He is solid no question, I will never completely forgive him for ducking Riddick Bowe in their earlier years, those would have been incredible fights.

disagree

bowe was the one who threw the belt in the trashcan rather than defend against lewis......he`s had the cold sweats about fighting lewis ever since getting his clock cleaned in the olympics in seoul for the gold medal in 1988....and based on those last 2 fights vs golota, that`s probably a good thing for him....
