"the bunker"
1)michael stewart vs terron millett.....like stewart laying -200 over millett...stewart is 32-1 and is a very slick boxer....millett has turned into a trial horse and has been beaten recently by gatti(blow-out) and ricardo williams(easily outboxed)...he`s very easy to hit and has taken some pretty severe beatings in some recent bouts...i expect a very quick stewart to be able to hit and not be hit by slowish, upright millett......looking through millett`s record,he has NEVER beaten any top YOUNG guys in their prime......was champ when the division was extremely weak....this is sort of a step-up vs millett, but millett has regressed so much recently.it`s not a big step-up...a boxing lesson...

2)hector camacho jr vs sebastian valdez.....like camacho jr-220 vs a decent valdez....camacho jr had career wake-up calls in the jesse leija debacle and a loss to tough omar weis.....he has had 2 bouts since the loss and knows that another loss will pretty much derail his career...valdez beat a decent but inconsistent golden johnson but,is stepping way up in class here....he has also been stopped several times and does not punch very hard(18-4 w/7k.o.`s).......i don`t think he`s going to outbox a focused camacho who has so much riding on his next few fights....

3)lesser play-omar weis vs emanuel augustus.....laying -200 on weis(if you wait, you may get a better number)....augustus(burton)is the darling of the espn2 crew(atlas and kellerman)because of his gatti-ward mentality in bouts...he is always in tough bouts and always takes a good deal of punishment....he usually does just enough to lose vs better fighters......he recently beat manuel vilches(who has a win over weis)....i know because this will be on espn2,we will be fighting kellerman and atlas coming all over themselves praising augustus....and i believe that the judges could be swayed a little because auagustus has been elevated to cult hero status by these guys...but i think weis is a tough, clever boxer who will almost certainly will jump out to a decent lead vs a slow starting augustus...it`s towards the end of the bout when augustus puts on his usual rally and the announcers go ballistic that worries me some...that is why i`m stepping back a little...weis has a win over camacho jr and has fought tough vs zab judah...he is a better fighter than augustus....going small because of all the peripheral b.s.....

hate laying wood(although they are reasonable lines).....don`t usually go much higher than these odds...

i like my scott harrison-wayne mccollough props and wagers in another thread.......may also take a small shot with rafael marquez vs tim austin at +200....marquez is on a roll...just the bloodline(brother of juan manuel marquez) is enough for me to take 2-1.....austin is very tough, but he has not been in with what i`d call super tough guys...i know the division is not strong, but, marquez will be very difficult...his destruction of "too sharp" johnson shows that he can deal with southpaws.....g.l.

one last item-am hedging my marquez over austin wager of +220 by taking austin by k.o.,t.k.o, or disq at -110.....marquez` 3 losses early in his career were all by k.o.....i like to hedge when going against a top pound for pounder like austin...if marquez gets k.o`ed,we lose juice basically....if marquez pulls the upset,we win some bread... .g.l.

damn!

damn!

camacho pulls out of the valdez bout....now i find out that emanuel augustus is pencilled in as a fighter in the eliminator to see who fights tszyu next...it would be vs sharmba mitchell....that tells me that omar weis will probably get jobbed in a close decision(maybe even not so close)....i think the mitchell people see augustus as an easy mark and are pulling some strings to make sure they get another shot at tszyu.....boxing is beginning to get on my nerves...i am still playing weis lightly as i think he is the better guy...but laying almost 2-1 with these politics involved i wouldn`t suggest anybody get involved...getting discouraged by all the b.s....augustus gets a fight-off to fight for a title with almost 20 losses?.....that`is if he beats weis....and weis is not mentioned at all....very strange...the guy that is a 2-1 favorite is out of the mix....the underdog with almost 20 losses may get the shot....gimme a break....

gonna weigh in

gonna weigh in

and wager on over 10 rounds tonight in the augustus-weis bout...as i previously indicated, there`s boxing politics smeared al over this one....laying -240(ouch).....i think i`m feeling football withdrawal....wouldn`t normally wager on this(especially at over 2-1)......but,weis was stopped once in a fed-latin title bout early in his career(in the other guy`s hometown)....it was in the 10th...the guy is tough(went the distance with zab judah and hector jr).....neither guy is a big puncher....lots of punches with little power.....augustus has gone the distance with many tough guys....usually fights to close decisions....both guys have excellent chins....from what i understand, this is only a 10 rounder....with augustus assured of a box off with sharmba mitchell if he wins(winner to fight tszyu)i am afraid weis won`t get any close decisions(which this will almost assuredly be)....i think weis is the better guy....i already have a small amount on weis(before i found out about the augustus-mitchell shenanigans).....i`m stuck with it...be prepared for teddy atlas and max kellerman drooling all over themselves about augustus......they love the guy because he`s always in give and take fights...he does have some talent...just not bright enough to fight a smart defensive fight....that`s why he has 19 losses....19 losses and he may be fighting for a title(and he`s not as good as freddie pendleton when he turned his career around)....that`s boxing..should be an enjoyable fight,though....i am prepared to be disappointed with the decision:shrug:

got `em both

got `em both

weis didn`t leave any room for shenanigans.....one-sided decision....the guy`s a very slick boxer.....a difficult fight for anybody..and the 10 round distance was never in doubt.....another good boxing night.....now,for tomorrow...

hit with marquez

hit with marquez

was a crazy fight that looked to be turning austin`s way....but as i said before, austin really hasn`t fought tip top guys....and marquez is way to dangerous to pass up 2-1....hell,i took another bite at +400....4-1 is way outta whack on this fight..the marquez family is steeped in boxing tradition....and marquez knew things were turning against him....he couldn`t stand outside and take those long punches...austin looked like a big spider....marquez did the only thing he could do...he fought his way inside and turned it into a brawl...and got himself pretty hurt in that last round...but,he had the balls to take his shot, knowing he might get kayo`ed for his effort....

bravo rafael marquez...love it when guys put their ass on the line at crunch time...well deserved...and bravo jose valenzuela for pulling a huge upset as a late substitute....those latino boxers....warriors....

another nice boxing weekend...basically 3-0....more to come...some great action in the coming weeks....g.l.;)

nice hit it looked funny he had his chance to take him out had him hurt and on the ropes and stooped and back away then drilled you know boxing . austin was very stiff and legs wider then i had ever seen them before well nice job, it was a good call i think i might take the + with the hwt against the smaller guy coming up hate to go against jones but 40-50 pounds is a lot to give ruiz is not a good looking fighter but he hits hard.
