My play is Pavlik-185. He was -165 here back a few weeks ago. Interesting thing Pavlik said about Taylor. He feels Taylor is focused on beating HIM, and not on winning the fight. He states how these philosophies differ in their approach. Of course a guy could say if I beat you I win the fight. It ain't that simple so it seems. I think we may see a ref stoppage once more. Not betting on that just yet, but am on Pavlik like gum on a shoe.

Pavlik is a cold blooded killer. The way he come back after round two was amazing.
All Taylor has in this match up is a small favor in speed thats it. Power chin skills workrate stamina fighting mentality all go to the ghost.
Taylor showed me more in that loss than in his wins before, but he is going down again because he cant fight going backwards for shit and he cant fight a pavliks pace.

If i am in a bad mood i watch that fight and everything is fine again.

Good to see that to be on the same side with you for a change.

i don`t think you`re gonna see taylor stand right in front of pavlik this time.....

although,i`m not sure i disagree with you guys.......

the interesting thing is that we were probably one punch away from this fight ending in taylor`s favor last time out.....

be careful...

Mr Weasel; I have said to anyone who would listen to a screwball like me that had anyone else other than Steve Smolger been ref that nite, Pavlik is still a challenger. I know these refs here in Nevada real good. I see them at some of the not so big-time fights. Nady, Cortez, Weeks I feel all would have stopped it in the second. They have done it before. Lampley said from the jump Smolger lets the damage insue. However, Pavlik now knows Taylor, and vice-versa. But Pavlik is the champ, regardless of the circumstances. Yea tony, we are always at odds! And spongy, do you always let the weasel do your talking for you?

I'm picking Pavlik, but it's tight, maybe even no play. The Steward/Taylor pairing was a bad one, if the new coach can convince Taylor to keep his damn left hand up it's a huge improvement.

I think the 166lb limit benefits Pavlik more than Taylor. I have about 200 for 200 on Pav through parlays, and will hedge with Taylor. Not confident enough in either guy.

that reach is a bitch to handle....and....i am a bit surprised that taylor looks a tad amateurish in certain fights....

he`s not as polished as one would tend to think....

i`m interested in an undercard fight on that card.....fernando montiel vs martin castillo.....a verrrry interesting fight...

i will be buying this ppv...

Does the more serious aspect of taylor's training not make any of you like him more. He is getting away from the fame and entourage and taking this a lot moe serious. The question is....is he good enough? Give me some more insight. I will be there. I had no idea the line until I saw -185 in the above thread. I was thinking a pick or -120 either way!!

So Taylor is serious now and before he wasn't? The old story, it never ends. You here them say they had outside distractions, it was my trainers fault, I wasn't feeling good, etc. A professional is supposed to be prepared; that's why they get paid 1-20 million a fight. Basically I think Taylor is more concerned with getting decapitated then Pavlik is. Pavlik has come back before. Taylor NEVER got hit as hard as he did that nite. I think he also feels if it goes late he is in trouble. Also I think no matter how hard he trains, he has a tendency to get gassed after the 9th round. One more thing. Pavlik is almost 6'3". The extra 6lbs. would seem to benefit him. This 6lb catch weight was a stipulation by Taylor before the last fight. Gee, I wonder why? GL however you go.

As strange as this sounds i do agree with a lot of the stuff he says in here. Frankie i can lie and fight with him:mj07: Weasel is a master of playing both sides of the fence. Nothing wrong with that at all(i call it caution) and i agree with him here. This is gonna be a tough fight and really to me not worth betting. I think Kelly wins but i can't lay those odds. To me its not worth the risk. Oh and that smiley i used in that post? That was the closes one i could find that basically said i agree. Franky ask Weasel how much i agreed with him politically. Im not even allowed to post over at the political threads anymore yet Weasel got most of my wrath and it was others who cried foul.
By the way Franky are you going to this one?

Franky on another note since you seem to be up on this fight, why did Taylor ditch Lewis as his trainer?

I am going to go against the grain on this one and pick Taylor.

I think he started too fast out the gate to prove a point and it cost him.

I think he will be more cautious and boring this time.

I pick Taylor due to his handspeed. I think he boxes this fight. I would not be surprised if Taylor is ahead on points and gets dummied. Kelly is dangerous all night long.

We are looking into attending this one. I know punchy and Romi should be there. I just don't like the MGM is all, but what can you do? From whatever I am aware of, Taylor said it just wasn't happening in the corner with Steward there. I say poppycock! No one could stop Taylor from beating Pavlik except himself and Pavlik. After he had Pavlik hurt, had Smolger stopped it Taylor would have been saying what a great trainer Steward is. Smolger did'nt stop it and Taylor got thumped. Peace my brothers from other mothers!

"I have said to anyone who would listen to a screwball like me that had anyone else other than Steve Smolger been ref that nite, Pavlik is still a challenger."

So, I am not a lone voice in the wilderness.

Avoiding the strip and watching this one at my place Frank, you're welcome to join us.
Will probably be at Marquez/Pac Man, but not with press (so I can hang afterwards and not have to work it) let me know your plans, it's been too long.

Sonny; what's up? As far as Saturday, thanks much for the invite. My situation is such that I have a spouse that is a very big boxing fan, as are we. Her expectations are such that if I attend a fight/PPV-etc, she assumes she is coming along. What's a guy to do? Don't know how that bodes with your crew. Also a bud belongs to some sort of bartering network where he THINKS he can score some ticks. I doubt it, but you never know. Nevertheless, I am looking foward to this one big time. We are also driving down to Carson, Ca for Marquez-Vazquez. Another monster. Talk to you later.

Well, maybe a VERY far fetched idea, but it may be worth a consideration. Let me say that I think no matter how hard Taylor tries to keep Pavlik at the end of his jab, and wait for a chance to land a haymaker, it just may not happen. I think this heats up sooner rather than later. Just the nature of the beast. Pavlik throws hard punches as a matter of course. I think he too will be more cautious. If we all come to see a "fight", and instead are presented with a boxing match, the longshot idea comes into play-DRAW+2500. I was there when Pac-man dropped Marquez 3X in the first and it was ruled a draw. One never knows. This may seem a dichotomy, but so far my play is Pavlik; I will bet-DOES NOT GO-when it is available if priced decently; and I may toss in DRAW. I do expect by the 6th round, it starts to get rough.

I agree this is a good fight to play the draw. Taylor would be wise to keep his distance and use speed and volume punches to create a more tactical match. If it turns into a slugfest, Pavlik gets the KO.

I have Pavlik 1:1, Im also playing Taylor by decision +425ish. Small on the draw too.

I dont see Taylor getting the KO, the 2nd round was an anamoly, he'll likely be more psychologically damaged and gunshy in this fight, more concerned about conserving energy and winning the rounds. He had Pavlik in big trouble, Kelly came back after 1 min rest and won the round. That has to hurt Taylor's confidence in gonig for the kill.

Pavlik straight, Taylor decision, tiny bet on the draw.

Where is Pavlik even $. Did you lay off some Pavlik with better Taylor odds? I'm jealous! I just hope this isn't a Mayweather-De la Hoya exhibition scam. Pavlik has never been about that all along, but money has been known to do very strange things to a man's psyche.

I think I must be imitating Scott-KOD replying to my own posts! YIKES. At any rate, go to boxingscene.com and read an article by Patrick Kehoe-Confidence versus Trust. A more articulate and eloquent scribe I have not yet come across. Not your typical banter. Give it a shot. I have followed this guy from one site to the next; he's that good.
