Brett Favre?sTakeoff
By SPORTSBETTING.COM
So the Brett Favre deal is done, he?s in New York and is getting ready for his first start for the Jets and books have had to make all sorts of adjustments.
As it stands right now the Jets are:
- Favored at +500 to win the AFC East division
- listed at +1200 to take the AFC championship
- +2500 to win the Super Bowl
- and the Over/Under on their regular season win Totals is 8.
Favre, for his part, is doing his best to learn the Jets? offensive system and from the looks of things it?s going to be a crash course.
According to ESPN, Favre says the hardest part is learning all the lingo of the system and getting used to the habits of his new receivers; he starts on Saturday against the Washington Redskins.
SPORTSBETTING.COM has the Jets favored by a field goal and the Total set at 35.5.
Since he still hasn?t learned the language of ?Jetspeak? and it is exhibition, Favre most likely will only see a couple of series, so banking on his presence for a wager might not be prudent.
But it is likely he will help this team when the real games begin. In his last 20 regular season starts, Favre has gone 16-4 straight up and 14-5-1 against the spread.
Looking at the Totals, in his last nine starts, Favre has not had an Under, taking the Over at an 8-0-1 clip, including the last four in a row.
The Jets have played one exhibition game this season dropping the Cleveland Browns 24-20, taking the game both SU and ATS (+4.5); the 44 total points went Over the Total of 34 set by sportsbooks.
They?ve hit the Over seven out of the last nine times, although they?ve also gone Under the last two consecutive regular season games.
Favre has yet to lose to the Redskins SU or ATS going 4-0 and 3-0-1 respectively, but remember, this is preseason.
The Jets have floundered against their brethren from the NFC going 0-8 SU and 1-5-2 ATS in the last eight games against NFC East competition.
How will the Favre era begin in the Big Apple? We?ll see.
Speaking of the Big Apple did you hear about the best seats in the house in the new Yankee stadium? They?ll be going for somewhere between $500 to $2,500; hey, the bills have to be paid somehow.
Meanwhile back at current Yankee Stadium the Yanks will host the Kansas City Royals this coming weekend.
The Bronx Bombers have owned KC taking 17 out of their last 20 (85%) games against the Royals and the Over has cashed in 10-3-2 out of the last 15 games.
Enjoy Brett Favre?s first start for the Jets; the Yanks? push for the playoffs and enjoy your weekend.
