British Columbia Lions -6.5:0074

Edmonton Eskimos(3-13)@British Columbia Lions(9-7)-Kick-Off @ 9:00pmCDT

Not sure if anyone out there wagers on the CFL but I wanted too post this selection which should be EZ$$$. :yup BC has dominated this series recently going 8-2SU & 7-3ATS in the last 10 meetings. Lions have won the last 4 SU & ATS against the Eksimos as well. Eskimos QB Mike Reilly is a better runner than thrower & tonight he faces the best pass defense in the CFL. If BC can contain him & force him too pass I doubt Edmonton will have much success tonight offensively. Lions QB Thomas DeMarco is average @ best but should have a good night going up against Edmonton who's pass defense is ranked dead last in the CFL. Lions have dropped their last 3 games so expect a maximum effort from them @ home tonight. Playoffs on the horizon as well so BC should beat a team they usual handle 36-17.

Good Luck All & Go Lions!!! :0008

B.C. Lions: Nothing on the line, but plenty to play for

Lions don?t have to worry about playoff positioning, but game gives them a chance to gain some momentum

The biggest fear in marketing is having nothing to sell. There?s a game where little is on the line for the B.C. Lions or their opponent tonight, but their coach is acting as if the playoffs are underway.

After a week in which he took heat for sticking with his starting quarterback and had general manager Wally Buono state the CFL team was flat out of mulligans after a putrid performance against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Mike Benevides is selling something other than cancer awareness when they face the Edmonton Eskimos at B.C. Place Stadium.

He may no longer be able to sell playoff tickets, but Benevides is looking for a team that wholeheartedly is of the opinion that they can be successful offensively with Thomas DeMarco at quarterback.

And as long as Travis Lulay is not playing and the Lions are going into the penultimate game of the regular season just three weeks into introducing a brand-new blocking scheme on the offensive line, it?ll be a tough sell.

??You-know-what? happens in this league. There?s stuff that goes unspoken,? said Korey Banks, who then tried his best to connect the dots.

?You lose a certain guy for awhile, it?s going to be tough. Say the Denver Broncos lost Peyton Manning. But we don?t live in a realistic environment in football. We live in an unrealistic environment. We dug a hole. We got to get out of it.?

Indeed they have, and with little time before they put their season on the line in the West Division semifinal Nov. 10, the Lions have to juggle a need to create some traction and not pile up injuries.

Banks, who could use the week off to rest an injured foot, will play, yet others in the defensive rotation, like Jason Arakgi, Anton McKenzie and Khreem Smith, will not.

But if the idea of a game where no playoff payoff is slightly underwhelming, it can still be a useful exercise tonight determining who should emerge as the most outstanding player candidate for the Lions this season.

The sample size of worthy candidates is slim on a 9-7 team that has been without Lulay for five games. As a result, the Lions may not have a player on the podium at the CFL Awards next month for the first time in 17 seasons.

Fortunately with the Lions, voting help is never far away, even if some defensive veterans might have their favourites.

?It?s not hard. I would go with Eric Taylor,? said Banks, with a nod towards the one player on defence who routinely goes unnoticed because of his quiet disposition.

?I know you?re supposed to say Adam Bighill, and he?s a good player, but he?s doing what he?s supposed to be doing.

?When you watch (Taylor) on film, he is dominating,? fellow defensive back Ryan Phillips said.

?Do I have to vote?? said Benevides, who does, something that will not be afforded fans this year due to changes in CFL sponsorship agreements.

?It?s pretty clear without the quarterback, it?s a combination of either a linebacker or receiver.?

It would only take minimal prompting to suggest Benevides could use the game to decide between Bighill and Nick Moore, who starts play third in league receiving, only 220 yards behind Edmonton?s Fred Stamps, who was placed on the nine-game injured list Thursday. Don?t tell Moore or his coach there?s nothing at stake tonight.
