The Buffalo Sabres have acquired Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian, and Jason Kasdorf from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia, Brendan Lemieux, and a first-round draft pick.
Keep in mind that the Buffalo Sabres have three first-round picks and two of them will come from playoff teams, the New York Islanders and St. Louis Blues. The pick the Jets are acquiring is believed to be either the Islanders or Blues, not the far more desirable Sabres' selection. Acquiring Kane is a big risk for Buffalo, but there's certainly a lot of potential upside. While Kane has gotten a reputation for being a difficult player to deal with and an underperformer on the ice, there's no question that he's still got the potential to be a star. The Sabres are on track to get a high-end center from the 2015 draft in Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel. Pairing either one of them up with Kane could have terrific results.
