Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt unless stated)

Tiger Woods to win 7/4 @ Victor Chandler, William Hill and Ladbrokes [2pts]
Difficult to find any enthusiasm for these early season events (not helped by Rose and Jimenez last week) and this event is the same: I struggled to find anyone to back this week. And I really should pass over this one and just make the one play this week, but I make Woods a 5/4 shot and so there is some value here. He has been playing on this course since six years of age, has won here in the last two years and is attempting to win his seventh straight PGA Tour event. And in the two years in which he has not begun his season at the Mercedes Championship (2003, 2006, ignoring his rookie year), he has made this his opening event and won both times. He really should win again.

Pat Perez to win 100/1 e.w. @ BetFred ['w/o Woods' market]
Opting for another player with local connections. Perez did say on his website that he might skip last week's event to concentrate on this one and so he is backed for the second week in a row and for the same reasons as last week, but that he is a graduate of Torrey Pines high school as well. A sixth-place finish two years ago was enough for a place finish with Tiger winning the event and given his early season promise at the Sony Open and his full recovery from the tendinitis that ruined his 2006 season, another top-10 finish looks a decent possibility and certainly a better possibility than BetFred's odds suggest.

Little over 1/2 hour till tee off--will try and slip a few 1st rounders in--

1st rd
Rose -130 over Allenby
Quig -125 over Z Johnson
Cink -105 over Allenby
Rose -130 over Howell
Green -105 over Pampling
Byrd -115 over Taylor
Pernice +130 over Parney

Had strong lean on 72 scoring total--but this is 1st time with very little rough so going to pass.

DTB - There was a book putting up 1st rounders with matchups between players on North/South? Where did you get to play those? Nice job :toast:

I see you found 1 W.R. actually there are 2 there for 2nd rd--both bet to +200 now.

They had same 2 matches there yesterday opening at -105. Took diff route than last week when they canceled wagers.
Made 4 wagers on both matches in 4hr increments--lines stayed @ -105 until 3rd wager and made last wager right before tee off-lines were -110 and -120.
Thats my reason of madness of not putting such plays up till just before tee -off.
It does not alert book--and gives those that do their own homework a shot at some good odds.
The -105's stood up for over 8 hours yesterday.
Wish we had privite messeging here--would like to alert members of crew here that I thought would be content with modest wager --but won't run risk posting them early and letting the high rollers lock on and ruin any future opportunities

Will take a look @ Tiger today to win @ oly
201 Tiger Woods +205

--expecting around -12 to get the cheese this week and leaderboard save Howell very weak --would expect 5 to 6 under for next two days to be ave for tiger--and overcame for more last year shooting only 1 under on north course. So chance to double money not to bad.

--an unoffical hedge that looks promising is Howell on interactives at $15 a share--shot a 64 here on sat 2 years ago--if he has decent rd today--expect to be able to sell 1/2 shares and have free shot with both he and tiger.

--anyone notice Cbet has no in-running place wagers available this week--I feared the inevitable--hope its just one week quirk--but doubt it--was a matter of time.

Did some off season bantering with a couple people--and have finally come to same conclusion--
The future of golf wagering is in spread betting.
