It seems that the weather delays, from the US Open to last week, are deflating the interest of the gamblers as well as the bookmakers. Quick. Who won last week? I don't know. Green. Nathan Green. Really? How nice. Sheesh.

My book just can't get any match-ups posted, after the first round, if there is any kind of delay. Too much trouble and not enough action, I guess. I need the English books soooo badly. Betfair especially. Getting ripped off here betting golf at a stick and ball bookmaker.

Back to weather delays. All summer tournaments should be played in California where it NEVER rains June to October. And that's just a fact.

The guys I would have bet on this week pulled out, so I threw a dart, so to speak, and came up with----

Ken Duke to win 150-1 sia

(250-1 on Betfair) see what I mean? Christ on a crutch. That's just freaking, maddening. A hundred units! Difference. I've never lost 100 units or even close to that in a single year.

Duke had a good Buick Open last year. That's why I took a flyer on him. He woke up a little, two weeks ago too. Last year he had a very good run. I'm hoping he gets it going again--- right now.

I wanted Molder against anybody. But Bryce pulled out. I hate that name Bryce. I also wanted Verplank over anyone besides Austin or Woods. They have Austin. So I settled on---

Leonard over Gay -120

Leonard is steady good and I think, Gay is a little burned out. I would have loved this bet at -110, I just like it at -120. My book had 8 matches to choose from. Dang.

I'm in a drought, so I decided to throw darts myself....Woods probably runs away with it.

Gay 30-1 win, 15-1 place, 7 1/2 show

Watney 30-1 win, 15-1 place, 7 1/2 show

Byrd 60-1 win, 30-1 place, 15-1 show

Goydos 80-1 win, 40-1 place, 20-1 show

Merrick 100-1 win, 50-1 place, 25-1 show

Good luck to all....I sure need some.

Dimarco -130 over Bettencourt

Scary betting on Chris, but he has had a nice past here. Bettencourts ball striking has been atrocious the past 2 rounds

Round 1 plays (2pts):

Ryan Palmer to beat James Nitties +100 @ Five Dimes
Opposing Nitties who is making his return to the Tour after a month out with a neck injury. With this also being his course debut, he should struggle to beat Palmer who has made his last three cuts on this course.

Brett Quigley to beat Tim Petrovic -110 @ Five Dimes
Two players in good recent form, but it is their course form that separates them. Whereas Petrovic is 4-for-4 in missed cuts at Warwick Hills and has never broken 70 here, Quigley has been the leader at the cut in both of his last two visits.

Outrights:

Something short of due diligence in my efforts . . .

Y.E. Yang(100/1) e.w.
- - Over the long haul, perhaps my most successful ANGLE in terms of solid plays is when those plays are built around something that appealed while tracking a player's hole by hole progress in a prior round, event, or events. And I'm quite willing to recognize it as a favorite and successful tool of other cappers. So although Yang has been far removed from any type of religious score tracking by me in recent weeks, I'm intrigued when another capper supports a play with a synopsis of, "Yang played superb last week....apart from on the greens, i followed him closesly" . . . Indeed, those 37 putts in Round 3 were his undoing last week.

John Daly(285/1 to Win: 30/1 for Top 5) e.w.
- - He's a different Buick champion, but there is a connection/affinity. Crooked Stick is in the air. Never expected the search for a putting fix would be a defining hurdle for John Daly, but maybe he's burned through a few neurons by now. Spending Thursday in the group behind Tiger may be good or bad, but doesn't rate as neutral or insignificant. Already cashed for me in Italy on his comeback trail, and I continue to like what I see and hear and touch and taste and smell and feel, and any implosion seems unlikely for the next few weeks. JD will need to be sharp around this track, but if he is, it has great possibilities.
John Daly is hungry for a comeback | detnews.com | The Detroit News

Brandt Snedeker(30/1) e.w.
- - Had him as my top play last week with good reason, but I don't have a single new reason this week.

Brett Quigley(100/1) e.w.
- - O-fer-354 overall, about 0-fer-25 with my cash over the years (but at least 1 decent Top 5 payout, Colonial in '06 if I remember correctly). The type of traditional layout he most enjoys, and he's a loyal sort that might rise to the ocassion for the Buick good-byes.

chopra finally healthy and had a less stressful weekend lw as letzig was in contention for the w - good finish in buick ly for michael but edge in course knowledge goes to chopra as he's played in 5 straight and has performed admirably

think chopra is finally over injury issues that have so far derailed his '09 campaign - looking for him to be in contention on the weekend, and looking for a slight letdown from letzig who is playing his 3rd tourney in a row and had a chance at his 1st w on tour lw

Q. James, great round. Just talk about what you had going good out there today.
JAMES NITTIES: Yeah. It was a little surprising. I had three weeks off and had an injury problem with my neck, and I've literally done absolutely nothing for three weeks. I haven't hit any golf shots.
So my goal this week was just to come out and maybe finish top 30, top 20 and sort of feel things out and try and get something going.
Yeah, I played great. I've slowed my swing down because I've been tentative because of my injury, and I hit it really well. I slowed the swing down and actually threw out some good shots and holed a couple of putts that you should hole there and had a lot of good birdie opportunities.

Q. When did you first pick up the club this week? Tuesday, Wednesday?
JAMES NITTIES: Well, I did pick up the club on Saturday. It was sort of, I played nine holes with my physio actually, and that was the test. And then we played 18. So we played 18 on Sunday.
And that was fun. And then I had a day off Monday. I was traveling, and then Tuesday I played 18 and got a little bit of practice yesterday, so sort of easing my way into it, but it's just -- the way it went, I pulled it, and it was really painful and sort of scared of that happening again. And we've been working on a bunch of stuff to prevent it, not just giving me short time away.

Q. Any pain out there at all?
JAMES NITTIES: No. I'm just stiff because I haven't been moving my neck much, so I think it's just muscular.
If you don't move your neck sideways for three weeks, you're obviously going to get stiff. No. It's not an excuse. It didn't affect my golf swing.

Q. Back at 18, I didn't see the score change. Was that a birdie at 18?
JAMES NITTIES: No. It was par. I hit a par chip down.

Q. So the way you were thinking top 30, top 20. Now you've put yourself in contention. How does that change the way you're going to think tomorrow?
JAMES NITTIES: Well, I'll reassess my goals. I give myself realistic goals and then I reassess them. So now obviously it's Top 10, Top 5, and obviously if I'm leading tomorrow or next day, I won't need it.
So I give myself realistic goals, and it doesn't give you too much of bad thoughts if you don't make your goals straightaway. So I give myself slow goals this week.

Daly

Daly

John Daly shot a 17 OVER par on the last TEN holes. Unbelievable. He shot a 57 on the last ten which were a par 40. This included one hole where he took a 10 and another where he took a seven on a par 3.

I think my Jason Gore bet is safe. A nice 5 unit play which is up by 25 shots after two rounds and obviously will win on the cut.

Now that's how a five unit should win.

Having a good Buick Open so far. Hope it continues for round three as I won't be around to play the final round on Sunday.

Indeed your selections have been largely "spot on" this week. Congratulations, Chip. :toast:

Personally, I bet Letzig (unposted:rolleyes:) about every possible way I could at my book. This included 4 tourney or first rd. matchups and also to win at 40/1. Really wanted to bet him each way, but it's my fault for not having a book where I could get that down. Might be costly. Anyway, Letzig is looking great, so far, leading after 2 rounds. Wish it was all over today. :mj07: Maybe he'll hang on, though...his form is superb and I really like his game...not the straightest of hitters, but scrambles very well and makes alot of clutch putts making the most out of his birdie/eagle opportunities. In fact, he ranks first on Tour in total # of birdies and history on this course dictates that he is going to have to continue to make alot of birdies in order to win at this event. We'll see...however, "you know who" is now lurking back there after a sizzling round 2.

Regardless, Letzig has made me some green with the matchups this week. I'm glad to see you also backed him with confidence this week. Should be fun to root him on for the big payday outright, knowing he already gave some net profit. Lots of golf left, though.

Good Luck to All,

-JC

JC - You are so right in the way Michael Letzig has been playing. Really thought he had a very reasonable shot last week until it caved in on him a bit in the last round.

Thought I'd still get good value on him this week as sometimes the odds don't always catch up to some of the more unknown players even though they are playing consistently well. I backed him with value in my opinion and he has delivered.

John Senden did catch him late in the day but he is right there. I play outrights every week and passed this week because I thought Tiger would walk away with it. He still may but I should have taken a cover play on Tiger and still bet my plays above as a bonus.

Leonard and Watney haven't done too bad at - 5 and - 6 respectively. Goydos as a big longshot is hanging at -8. YE Yang at 60:1 is tied for fifth at -10. I actually could have had Letzig at 50:1 and would be sitting nice. With the cover on Tiger, I would have liked my stand but I backed off.

I too can only play the outright win and need to find a way of opening up the "ew" possibilities.

As you said, plenty of golf left. Bummed as I'll be away and won't be able to give attention to the last round but maybe there will be nice opportunities in the third round tomorrow. Good luck.

I'd like to submit this pick as one of the worst that this site has seen in quite some time - it's hard for me to imagine a golf pick that could be this bad or lose by this much

congrats, me
